The spring fashion and social season has sprung! Plenty of opportunities to buy and wear a floral dress and designer denim.  No excuse for those with short attention spans–here are the shortest event summaries I’ve ever written.

Tonight:

– Garden Party at the Chambers!: From Dusk Til Dawn–tonight. For charity. Details here.

– Fashion show at The Lounge: Show starts at 10 p.m. tonight with clothes from Drama and VState. $5 before 10 p.m. and $8 after. (411 2nd Av. N., Mpls.)

– Joynoelle sample sale: Visit the designer’s studio for deals on pretty coats and dresses (pictured above) and also find merch from Apiary Design (stationary), Emily J. (makeup), Flora Bella (flowers) and Urban Junket (handbags). Fri: 5 p.m - 8 p.m. Sat: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m., 312 W. 42nd St. (at Grand), Mpls.

– Covered Grand opening: Tomorrow, 6 to 9 p.m. at the new Uptown location. Drinks, snacks and 15% discounts. Free gift with purchase of at least $100.

– Parc Grand opening: Don’t forget!

– Karma sale: Karma is moving over the summer. Right now, you’ll get 15 to 75 percent off everything in the store. Hey, we all have to do our part to lighten the load.

Vintage shoppers and lovers are no doubt already aware…it’s time for the third RetroRama at the Minnesota History Center.

This time ’round we’ll be celebrating 1950’s suburbia. It’s a historical take on “Desperate Housewives.”  The best part? Everyone wears vintage.

Thursday, May 15, 7 p.m. to 11 p.m.. Tickets are $15 for non-members. (The Minnesota History Center is at 345 W. Kellogg Blvd, St. Paul, 651-259-3000.)

Here are some of the features:

• 1950s fashion show by Anna Lee, Eclecticoiffeur and local designers, many fresh from the Voltage Runway, including Laura Fulk, Anna Lee, Calpurnia Peach, Kerri Riley and Rebecca Yaker.
• Cocktail & cooking demos with Nick Kosevich of Town Talk Diner.
• Shopping boutique by Swank Retro and Via’s Vintage.
• Bingo with celebrity callers.
• Music by Lucy Michelle & the Velvet Lapelles and DJ Jake Rudh.
• Plus 1950­60s photo exhibit, “Suburban World: The Norling Photos“, with author Brad Zellar signing his accompanying book.

One store closes and another one opens. Such is the ebb and flow of retail. This month, the opening and closing is happening across the street.

While we say goodbye to Clutch on 50th and France, across the street, we say hello to Bumbershute. The store is relocating from Wayzata.

These photos are from the scene on Friday evening. The lone 3.1 Phillip dress sat casually in the window as if to say: “Relax. Have a seat. The rest of the fashion will be here soon.” It will soon be joined by D&G, Just Cavalli, and Philosophy.

Sure enough, they opened this week with all of the goods. Don’t worry–I’ll go back for photos of the fully stocked shop. (5014 France Av. S., Edina, 952-475-2684)

It’s a very sad sale. (Who knew that was possible?) After two and a half years in business, Clutch is closing. They’ll probably be open until the end of the month–right up through the Edina Art Fair.
