Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

Do you like scary movies? Got a prom dress to spare? The first 25 people to arrive at an advanced screening of the new movie “Prom Night” on Thursday night with a prom dress to donate will get two free passes to the movie.

Just show up at 6 p.m. at AMC Rosedale at 6 p.m. with your dress in hand. The gowns will go to Ever After, one of several local organizations to give away dresses with high school students who need them. (Their annual event is this coming weekend, so the donations will be just-in-time.

Of course, after watching Brittany Snow struggle to surviver her “Prom Night,” there might be less demand for prom dresses this year.

Visit www.everaftergowns.org for more information and additional drop-off locations.

Today and tomorrow, if you spend $500 in the contemporary collections department, you’ll receive a free Tory Burch tote (clear plastic with orange patent) with assorted designer goodies in it. And let’s face it: It’s really easy to drop half a McKinley (that’s a $500 bill) at NM.

Tim Gunn wants to make you over!

Tim Gunn "Biggest Loser" Special @ Yahoo! Video

This week, he was on “The Biggest Loser.” Next week, he’ll be at Rosedale. That’s right, the fashion wise guy from “Project Runway” and chief creative officer of Liz Claiborne will swing by Herberger’s next Wednesday (March 26 at 6 p.m.) to give on-the-spot advice and show you some instant makeovers.
Bonus: You’ll get a Tim-approved gift with purchase of $100 or more in Liz Claiborne. No, Isaac Mizrahi isn’t designing it yet, but it actually is looking rather fresh these days. (My mom just bought a cute shirt for me online.)
Anyway, I’ll be there to meet Tim and to personally ask him about the dress he put Brittany in last night.
Watch the video (by clicking on the photo) if you don’t know what I’m talking about. And click here for more event details.
