You can’t touch Glamorama 2008. At least, not compared to the previous years in my memory– MC Hammer and Cyndi Lauper? Might have been the best night in my life since I was in the front row of the Cyndi Lauper concert in 1986.
There’s a short-ish video posted online here. Enjoy! Feel free to argue with me–but I think Hammer still has IT! There are party photos in the paper today and I’ll post the link when it’s available.

New locations of heated yoga clubs have been popping up faster than you can say namaste. Yet it seems almost impossible to find interesting yoga/exercise clothes beyond basic black. The newest CorePower features an in-store boutique with everything you need for living a zen lifestyle or simply striking a pose. To sweat in: Try this tank ($74) and pants ($115) at left by Margarita. Then accessorize with a Yogitoes skidless premium mat ($60), an Oona Sera yoga bag ($60) and Sigg aluminum water bottle ($23). Run errands in the locally made Foat Designs pants and Julz Marie tote bag ($60). Shown at right with Green by Green Dragon shirt ($80) and a necklace titled “Ease” by Healing Beauties Sacred Stone Jewelry by Helena Raghubir. There’s also an on-site spa in case you’d prefer to have your knots worked out for you rather than do the “downward-facing dog.”

It’s Glam night! I pre-celebrated yesterday by cruising through the downtown store, only to discover that FitFlops have arrived. And arrived in a big way–a full rack of them. The claim? The chunky flip-flops supposedly will help you tone your legs, improve balance and burn calories. All that for $49.99.
At netaporter.com, you can find the more upscale gladiator version for $165.

Brooke is sassy enough to match wits with Heidi, Michael and Nina. That said–team challenges are kind of annoying. The dynamics go all a-crazy and eliminations seem, well, unfair. If you believe Michael Kors– “The best part of a team is having another set of eyes.” However, I don’t see Michael leaning on a design partner. Of course, who would have thought that Stella and Jerell would play so well together.
Tim, as usual had the best lines of the night, including: “It looks like a big sweet potato.” Kenley is lucky she didn’t go home for picking a weird floral fabric and inappropriately cracking up on the runway.
My other favorite: Heidi on Blayne’s design: “She looks like a woman who didn’t have a mirror.”
Enough about this week. Next up: Chris March returns! With a parade of drag queens. And Tim: “It’s a pterodactyl out of a gay Jurassic Park.”

Tomorrow night is Glamorama. What do we all want to know: What will Cyndi wear? And will she remember me from the front row of the her 1986 concert here? Please?!?
Okay, I’m also curious to see if attendees dress in the 1980s theme? Quite honestly, the Marc by Marc Jacobs fall collection was very 80s–with brights and black and zippers.
If I were going theme (err…don’t count on it), I’d probably pick up something at the same store where I bought my neon parachute pants circa 1987– Express. This little ensemble is just crying out for an armful of rubber bracelets and gianormous hoop earrings. The top is $29.50 or two for $39.50. If it will make MC Hammer smile, it’s so worth it.
There may still be tickets available. Orpheum, 8 p.m., Friday. Try Ticketmaster.
Am I the only one who thinks of “Glamorama”–the Bret Easton Ellis satire/grusomely violent novel? Just saying.

I have been a Cosabella fan for years! Before Hanky Panky, Cosabella’s rainbow of thongs was my unders of choice. Now Flirt is carrying the fun and functional line of bras and panties. They come in sizes 32B through 36C.
Also in store? The “Miranda” from the Sex and the City line, the pink and brown number below.

Flirt Boutique, 1330 Grand Av., St. Paul, 651-698-3692.
