Unloading Jingle Ball tix

What happens when the headliner bails the day before a major concert tonight at Target Center? A lot of fans and ticket brokers trying to unload their overpriced tickets online at the last minute.

This morning’s many postings on Minneapolis Craigslist and eBay surely were affected by Kanye West’s announcement Thursday that he would not be appearing tonight as scheduled at Jingle Ball, which also features Avril Lavigne, Timabland, One Republic, Jordin Sparks and last-minute additions Blake Lewis and Fabolous. The odd thing about the last-gasp listings is that sellers still seem to want much more for their originally high-priced tickets than the few tickets-wanted posters want to pay. “I need 3 jingle ball tickets for tonight last minute decision i have 90 dollars I can spend,” says one wanted ad on Craigslist. “Willing to sell 2 great tickets to Jingle Ball tonight at the Target Center. Asking for what I paid $125 each–but am willing to hear your best offer,” says one seller.

Obviously, supply and demand dictates what resold tickets will eventually go for, but it’s interesting to see how far apart sellers and potential buyers are on this one, probably because of differing views on how West’s cancellation affects ticket values. Either way, this doesn’t appear to be like the massive ticket-broker sell-off that preceded the American Idol concert this summer at Xcel. I got four primo tickets for that one just a few days before the show for less than what one cost originally. Gotta love the way the Internet has streamlined ticket buying, especially the day of the show.
