BioShock is no longer an Xbox 360 exclusive. A PlayStation 3 version will be coming out in October, according to a just-issued announcement from maker 2K Games.

BioShock is the wildly inventive — and scary! — adventure in which players navigate through a ruined underwater city to find out what ravaged the onetime utopia. Many critics hailed it as the game of the year in 2007, including me.

Best yet, the PS3 version is going to get a little makeover.

“Over the coming months we look forward to revealing the new features and content that will make this a must-have game for its new audience, as well as for those who enjoyed it on the other platforms,” said Christoph Hartmann, president of 2K.
