BDLive must get better than this

I’m not cut out to be a Starship Trooper. Literally.
One of the extras on the Blu-ray version of Starship Troopers 3: Marauder, coming out Tuesday, is a BDLive (web-enabled) feature that allows you to insert yourself in the movie. It requires a laborious process in which you request an email link through BDLive, get the email, upload an image of your face, go back to BDLive to insert your face inside a trooper’s helmet and then return to the disc to activate the feature and see yourself inserted in scenes from the movie. Whew.
But even though I followed the instructions, my face was too small, with no apparent way to resize it. So my image kind of floated inside the helmet. Before redoing it, I thought I should at least view the footage — which is locked until you go through the upload, etc. — to see if it was worth the time. I’m glad I did. The feature was incredibly lame. During a few chosen scenes from the movie, a cartoonish trooper bearing your face is randomly inserted among the live action. It looks totally cheesy. BDLive has nowhere to go but up.
Speaking of lame, I’m getting ready to take another vacation next week, so check back afterward for updates.
