p1060301.JPGRead my story about Rhona Templeton’s unauthorized tongue stud, which happened at Planet Ink in St. Paul, and then you’ll know why the St. Paul City Council will today consider a $700 fine against the tattoo and piercing parlor. Here’s the text of the 2007 law that makes it a misdemeanor to provide a piercing before its time:

325F.814 BODY PIERCING.
Subdivision 1. Prohibition. No person may provide body piercing services for a person under the age of 18 without the written consent of a parent or legal guardian. The provider of the services must witness the execution and dating of the consent by the parent or legal guardian.
Subd. 2. Definition. For the purposes of this section, “body piercing” means the perforation of any human body part other than an earlobe for the purpose of inserting jewelry or other decoration or for some other nonmedical purpose.
Subd. 3. Penalties. (a) A person who violates subdivision 1 is guilty of a misdemeanor.
(b) The public and private remedies in section 8.31 apply to violations of this section.
History: 2007 c 98 s 1

So it’s a crime to give someone under 18 a piercing without written consent of a parent or guardian. But is is okay to give that same person an abortion without the consent of a parent or guardian. What a sad strange world we live in.

  2. smarter than you! Says:

You, Ironic, are clearly missing the big picture. Give it some thought for a while longer. I bet it’ll come to you. ;)

Well, I like the concept of “Ironics” comment, however
I feel it was more intended to stir the Abortion pot
and create arguments than to make a point. I think
a better example would be that we trust 16 year olds
to control thousands of pounds of metal moving at 70mph
and yet we wont let them control grams of metal stationary
in their bodies. Are good decisions made when we’re young?
Not always, but is this a mistake or possible bad
decision that will cause serious harm or
    lifelong implications? Not likely

  4. Bob Says:

Bradley Crowder of Austin, Texas, pleaded guilty this morning in federal court in Minneapolis to possession of a destructive device during the Republican National Convention last fall.

Why can’t your readers comment on this story?????????

  5. Save Jesus from the Christians Says:

I wish someone would have aborted “Ironic”.

Don’t worry “Ironic” rapists don’t think
abortion should be legal either. They want
their offspring to live inside our wives, daughters,
    sisters, and mothers.
