A criminal probe into peanut contamination, and how investigators found it

The government is now looking to see whether criminal charges in warranted in the peanut contamination scare. Minnesota’s central role as disease outbreak detectives is highlighted in the Centers for Disease Control’s report released this week. The cluster of salmonella infections across 12 states was first detected Nov. 10 - peanuts were fingered as the culprit in Minnesota Dec. 28.
