I was a mere lad when my predecessors at the Minneapolis Star were hounding businesspeople and bureaucrats on behalf of regular Minnesotans. As I reported in my Sunday column, Column 1 investigated and rectified all kinds of gripes from 1972 to 1979. Thirty years later, I don’t have as large a staff to look into all of the problems reported to me. But I do have reporting tools that Column 1 did not have, such as drawing on the collective wisdom of my readers through this blog. So you can expect more pleas for assistance in the months ahead.
