Hola from the concierge lounge at my Vancouver hotel. Figured I’d come up here to write. Lots of stuff came from today’s skate, including Manny Fernandez talking (see below), but most other stuff I was gathering for my Sunday column and stories for later in the week.

Unfortunately, I don’t have concrete info about the lineup. Jacques Lemaire said Derek Boogaard would be a gametime decision. Boogaard thought he was playing. If so, I don’t know who comes out because Stephane Veilleux-Branko Radivojevic-Wyatt Smith has been a solid line lately. Maybe Dominic Moore? Dunno. Todd White has been hampered by a stiff neck, but I think he’s playing.

Petteri Nummelin looks like the scratch on D.

As a follow to today’s story on the Wild continuing to ride Backstrom, Fernandez said, “Honestly, for the good of the team, I think that’s the best move ever.”

He went on to say he will not “screw everything up” because Backstrom’s playing so well and because this is the most tight-knit he’s seen the Wild since the “birth of this team.”

He had a lot more VERY interesting stuff to say, so I suggest reading tomorrow’s paper.

I’ll update prior to game and blog after. FYI, I haven’t gone through the Q&A yet. I’ll try to work on it during the flight to Edmonton tomorrow morning as long as the seat in front of me is in an upright position :)
