Game 4: End of one period

Posted on April 17th, 2007 – 8:49 PM
By jzulgas

Wild had some good pressure and outshot the Ducks, 14-9. Minnesota came out strong after coach Jacques Lemaire harped on getting the first goal. However, it’s 0-0 at this point so you’d have to say advantage Ducks. Of course, that’s been the case this whole series.

Near the end of the period Wild defenseman Kim Johnsson collided with the Ducks’ Rob Niedermayer. Johnsson got up slowly but decided to remain on the ice until the horn sounded to end the period. At that point, he flexed his left knee a little bit. That might be something to watch when the second period gets underway.

Keith Carney, the Wild’s veteran defenseman, had an extremely shaky period. He turned over the puck twice and also was called for a penalty.

so…welcome to the first “progressive” blog. It’s kind of like one of those progressive dinner thingamajigs where you have each different course at a different person’s house.

It’s kind of a retro-fitted 80s yuppie kind of thing, but those were the glory days in Minneapolis, where the Strib is located. (Prince’s club (GlamJam?), T’Wolves, First Ave)

Progressive blogging, how trendy.

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 8:58 pm

I wonder if the other will follow promptly?

Nick in NY says:

Russo/Judd: what’s the buzz like in the press box? Calm resignation? Amused indifference? Quiet antici……pation?

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:01 pm

FWIW:

In the Rangers game, Nylander went 3-1-4

Jagr 0-4-4

And someone named Ryan Callanan had 2 goals.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:04 pm

nice call on Johnsson, Judd…definitely favoring the leg

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:04 pm

SRV with a NICE hit on Prongs.

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:05 pm

Whether you like the guy or not you have to respect Johnnson for skating after a hit like the one he took to the knee. You could see him hobble when he came out there a moment ago. Play through the pain!!

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:05 pm

I like all the activation of the defensemen on offense…for those that say JL will never change the game plan to be more offensive…

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:05 pm

HOW WAS THAT NOT GOALIE INTERFERENCE??

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:06 pm

nice…a few more grains of sand shift over to our side of the “momentum” scale.

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:08 pm

Couldn’t agree more NIck…

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:08 pm

Hayseed going on and on and on about Boogey “throwing knees” except that in all their video he isn’t sticking out his knees.

Boogey talks about how bad his knees are considering his size. I seriously doubt he’s throwing knees on anyone.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:08 pm

are we going to be shorthanded after that???

Go Lobos says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:09 pm

Hola, Amigos. Brutal non-call on Moen.

Bandgeek says:

Stupid zebra’s!! There should be some one off for the Ducks as well. Even my dog just made dissaproving noises at the TV…. pisser…

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:10 pm

this is very, very bad.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:11 pm

interesting that Boogey gets right back out there…Hayseed is beside himself

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:14 pm

Happy place…… not going to make it there. For once G&T get it right, ‘goal on a power play that shouldn’t have been.”

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:14 pm

Walz would appear to be trying to be our Kirby Puckett tonight.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:15 pm

Manny has to be ready to kill himself right about now. I can’t imagine how hard it would be to be watching this happen from his POV.

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:16 pm

Channeling a little Kirby wouldn’t be remiss.

Willow says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:16 pm

Next time, try a “Hey Willow–We moved to a new thread!” post

I thought I was alone in the other one. All sad and afraid.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:17 pm

that. was. close.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:17 pm

blame Judd for getting all crazy with the “new post” button.

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:17 pm

And where is the call for putting Gabby in a head lock after the whistle…

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:18 pm

bandgeek: you don’t channel a “little” Kirby. Nothing about Kirby was little. ;)

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:19 pm

HA! Did you just see Burnsie deke his shadow behind our net?

Pretty sweet move, BRENT.

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:19 pm

Nice of you to join us Willow, we missed you.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:20 pm

great save by Bryz…we’re going on PP

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:21 pm

again, though a meaty rebound on the shot by Bryz…God if we could only put one of those in.

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:22 pm

Let’s see if we can do something with this power play. Come on Boys!!

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:23 pm

bad bounce…end of the PP…

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:24 pm

Johnsson just saved Nik’s butt

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:25 pm

Parrish has elevated his game tonight too…we’ve done everything but score. Again.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:25 pm

remember how we said Nik doesn’t scramble very well? He’s clearly been working on it.

Willow says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:27 pm

Parrish is playing great.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:27 pm

Pronger in the box…THIS IS OUR CHANCE!

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:27 pm

The Mr. says (and add lots of sarcasm here) “Gee you mean you can call interference on Pronger? What a concept!” He can be snarky like that.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:29 pm

I think the Mr. and I share a sense of humor.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:30 pm

well I hope I was wrong about that being our chance, because we did exactly NOTHING with it if it was.

Go Lobos says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:30 pm

That was a textbook PK

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:30 pm

And we waist another power play, JL can’t be happy.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:31 pm

I don’t know why Gaby thought he’d have better luck skating INTO Pronger there…the guy has like a 10 foot reach.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:31 pm

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go Lobos says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:32 pm

Keep Boogey in there!!!!!

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:32 pm

YESYESYESYES!!!!!! OOooooppps just gave the dog a heart attack…

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:33 pm

PMB…will wonders NEVER cease?

Willow says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:33 pm

PMB! Boogy for an assist! Awesome.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:35 pm

Hayseed has spent the whole game talking about how Boogey could get called for a penalty on every shift, how he’s blahblahblahblahblah,

Boogey gets a helper?

(cricket, cricket)

“Boy Niedermayer and Pronger are GOOD!”

What a donkey.

Gaby takes a 2

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:36 pm

Gee Gabby musta farted, time to give him a penalty.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:37 pm

well? I’m mentally drained, and we’ve got 20 minutes to go!

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:37 pm

That was the Mr. speeking by the way.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:37 pm

Ducks need to win one period now to move on. Not a bad position to be in.

Willow says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:37 pm

He borked.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:38 pm

2-1 Canucks with 2 mins left in regulation

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:39 pm

No borking! That gives me the heeby geebies.

Willow says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:39 pm

PMB talking about getting his own rebound–well, yuh. Bryz just leaves them laying there. Pick one up, dump it in. It’s Fun!

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:42 pm

HA! Willow we found Bandgeek’s achilles heel!

Borking:

What, and how often do you need to stretch in order to do it?

Do you like the 6- or 8-cylinder version?

How long is the recovery for the average human after a session?

Do you use red or green cabbage in your recipe?

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:43 pm

Warrener just got knocked silly by a shot to the face from Zetterberg…just ugly.

Go Lobos says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:44 pm

Yes, he was a bit woosey after that one.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:45 pm

can you imagine if a similar thing happened to a baseball, basketball or football player?

They’d be out for weeks!

AdamBez says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:45 pm

I feel like I may be intruding in the moment you three are having but I thought that you may be interested in what I have to say. Boogey is the man, we need his energy.

Willow says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:45 pm

Borking: the other white meat
Borking: It’s whats for dinner
Borking: it’s everywhere you want to be

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:46 pm

I totally agree Adam…we could actually use a couple more Boogeys, but that just underscores how much we need the one we do have.

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:47 pm

be honest Willow: you work in marketing, don’t you?

And we’re mobile again…(Willow, that means Judd just posted the new thread)

Bandgeek says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:47 pm

Dude!! Thats just disturbing. The Mr. says, “and the springy chicky is the bork bork bork.”

Nick in NY says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:50 pm

Adam: we’re always interested in what you have to say.

Go Lobos says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:53 pm

We need to go off for 3 or 4 goals this period to set the tone for game 5.

Go Lobos says:

April 17th, 2007 at 9:59 pm
