Defenseman Petteri Nummelin (Finland) sustained a knee injury in the semifinals of the world championships. It is not believed to be serious, according to the Wild.
Also, I ran into Mark Parrish and Adam Hall at yesterday’s Twins game. Wes Walz won a home-run contest between TC, Parrish and Keith Carney prior to Saturday’s Twins-Tigers game. Apparently TC never loses.
Michael Russo has covered the Minnesota Wild and NHL for the Star Tribune since 2005 following 10 years of covering the Florida Panthers for the Sun-Sentinel. Michael fell in love with the sport thanks to the New York Islanders’ dynasty of the early-'80s and being able to cover the three-time Sunshine Hockey League-champion West Palm Beach Blaze in the early-'90s. Michael uses “Russo’s Rants” to feed a wide-ranging hockey-centric discussion with readers, and “Russo Radio” can be heard Wednesdays at 6 p.m. on KSTP (AM-1500).
