Wild won 3-2 tonight thanks to Mikko Koivu, making amends for two earlier penalties, scoring the winner with 3:04 left. After Stephane Veilleux hammered defenseman Brett Clark, Koivu took advantage of the free space by surprising goalie Peter Budaj, stepping in front of the net and scoring the winner to keep the Wild unbeaten in regulation (7-0-1).

And best off, Colorado doesn’t get a point out of it.

Pavol Demitra was injured nine minutes into the third when he strained his right hip on a shorthanded rush with Marian Gaborik. Demitra will be evaluated tomorrow and is day-to-day “for now,” said assistant GM Tom Lynn.

Considering it played second of back-to-back, Wild played a solid game, especially on the penalty kill in the first period.

Mark Parrish and Brian Rolston scored power-play goals in the second before the Wild stepped off the gas for a bit. But it recovered in the third, where it’s outscored opponents 7-1 this season. It’s also allowed just three even-strengthed goals in eight games.

Goodbye for now.
