Tonight’s game, Jacques on Carney; Onion article; Gaborik public apology

OK, back from the skate. Nik Backstrom in net. Marian Gaborik and Stephane Veilleux in. No Keith Carney. Petteri Nummelin on D at even strength, half wall on the power play.
Derek Boogaard was getting bag skated with Carney and Sean Hill, but he thinks he is playing. So perhaps no Matt Foy. I’d think Aaron Voros would still be in.
Never got a chance to talk to Jacques this morning as I was interviewing Doug Risebrough on a number of items.
I will be writing about Keith Carney tomorrow, folks. I agree it’s bizarre how this guy has just fallen from Jacques Lemaire’s good graces. The writing is on the wall now, especially with Sean Hill expected to be given a chance once his suspension ends after tomorrow’s game. If there are no injuries, Carney’s going to be an extra often.
Like I said, I’ll be writing about this much more for tomorrow’s paper. Here’s a sample of the back and forth yesterday between Jacques and us on the Carney situation:
“The thing is, you guys are talking about a guy that played, what, three minutes and you’ve got other guys that have played the whole game really well. You talk about the guy that I sat.”
Why did he sit? “Did you watch the game? I thought he had a slow start. He got a beat a couple times and then he took a penalty that they scored on and that was enough for me. Every goal is important because we don’t score a lot. So where do you stop?”
Here’s an Onion article I thought you’d find amusing.
Gaborik’s public apology to fantasy owners. This is funny, although I think fantasy owners are more frustrated with Gaborik’s groin problems than Jacques’ system.
Congrats to my pal, we’ll call him David K, who passed the bar yesterday, meaning he’s officially a NY power attorney. He shrewdly broke the news among yesterday’s blog commenters. He’s even met with an etiquette coach at his NY firm, which will make it much more bearable to be around him.
