Watched the game on TV. Good show by those folks at FSN North. I don’t normally get to watch the telecasts because I’m at the games, but they do a great job.

Last Sunday in Colorado, Jacques Lemaire said you’re not going to win games when Aaron Voros and Matt Foy are your best players.

It wasn’t an indictment on them, but the team. Tonight, they were the Wild’s best players and the Wild won big. The hard-working duo, along with young center James Sheppard, teamed to score the first two goals.

Voros, not officially a rookie but in his first year (he’s too old to be Calder eligible at age 26), scored for the second time in two games, although it was his first NHL goal with his stick (ha).

Foy scored for the first time in 34 games, but separated by 25 months (Oct. 12, 2005). Sheppard, with two helpers, had his first career two-point game.

Stephane Veilleux scored a goal by ignoring Marian Gaborik on a 2-on-1. Pretty impressive for the confident Veilleux. I was surprised Josh Harding didn’t get an assist. He stoned Tyler Arnason on a breakaway and pushed the rebound to Martin Skoula, who rang it around the boards. Harding was fantastic after getting yanked in Vancouver.

Brent Burns scored his fifth in Game 20. He scored a career-high seven in 77 last year.

The Wild is now an amazing 11-0 when it doesn’t allow a goal in the third, 0-7-2 when it does.

The Wild is 7-0 when it doesn’t allow a power-play goal.

Just watched the news conference on TV. Jacques raved about Carney, so he appears free. Kind of reminds me of when Jacques freed chained-up Mark Parrish last December after I wrote a big article.

This could affect Sean Hill bigtime. He might have to be even more patient. How do you change the blue liners after tonight? And I figure Petteri Nummelin will come out for Derek Boogaard next game.

Vancouver next, and the rivalry is renewed, meaning there should be fireworks even though Mattias Ohlund won’t be present. Hey, there’s still Ryan Kesler and Matt Cooke. And there’s Alex Burrows, who got into a punching match with P-M Bouchard and sliced open Brian Rolston’s ear two years ago.

Speaking of Vancouver, Willie Mitchell just scored a great goal, his first since that one last January against his ex-mates. Markus Naslund made a pretty cool play to set up Mitchell’s pretty goal. Night.
