Sunday’s practice update; Monday morning check-in
Posted on December 9th, 2007 – 4:24 PMBy Michael Russo
Mr. Youngblood covered Sunday’s practice, but he has to write the Wolves, too, so I figured I’d check in for him.
He tells me Pavol Demitra was given the day off and Jacques said Petteri Nummelin will play sometime on the West coast. As I’ve written, in order for Nummelin to come off injured reserve (where the team has been hiding him), it will have to make a roster move.
I’m writing this during a very rare visit to the Star Tribune headquarters, where I checked my mailbox for the first time in a month.
In there was a CD from the local band, Thunder in the Valley. I checked out their Myspace page and it sounds like good stuff, so I’ll plop it onto my iPod for my long flight to San Jose.
Much appreciated to the person who sent it to me.
I’ll talk to you from hopefully warm Northern California later today. Practice isn’t til 3 Pacific Time, so it will be a late update today.
How bout the Red Wings again last night? They are by far the best team in the West. Then, there’s everybody else. They just don’t give up the puck. And Zetterberg and Datsyuk are simply amazing.
They again prove how an 18-year-old draft is just a crapshoot. Imagine, Zetterberg was taken 210th overall in 1999 and Datsyuk was taken 171st in 1998.
But it’s often the Wings that unearth these guys.
Talk to you later.
