Tuesday’s skate update

Afternoon from Napa, where I’ve been wine tasting for hours. It’ll get the creative juices flowing for tonight’s stories.

Just a joke. Just a joke.

Few years ago, I did actually go hiking in one of the redwood forests during an extended trip to San Jose. Fun times.

Figured I’d check in real quick. Same Wild lineup tonight as in Columbus, with one exception. The Boogey Man, Derek Boogaard, will be joining me in the press box where I’m hoping to convince him to write my notebook. Branko Radivojevic will be back in for Boogaard.

My gamebox today was a disheveled mess as the Sharks accidentally sent out old press notes. Michalek and Grier are in, however, Roenick and Cheechoo are out.

Not much else going on. Notebook lead tomorrow will be on Matt Foy, who really, really wants to stay in Minnesota but knows his time is likely running out.

Also, couple other interesting notes. Talk to you later this evening. Would you believe the fire alarm is going off right now? As Jacques would say, “Oh…My…Lord!”

Mikko Koivu update: I put this in one of the stories out of Detroit, but it must have been missed because I’ve gotten some emails. Mikko Koivu is not on the trip and has not started practicing yet. Tom Lynn said last week if it gets to the point where he can practice with the team, he’d meet the team in LA.

That seems doubtful, however, which of course means, not only would he miss these three games, but probably the ones next week, too, since he hasn’t even begun practicing yet.
