Wild’s latest lopsided loss to the NHL’s best team, Detroit

First of all, happy holidays to all. The blog will likely be dormant until Dec. 26 when I pick up the team in Dallas. I’m leaving town in the morning and the Wild is on vacation.
Here’s a funny Canucks rap that Derek Boogaard makes an appearance in.
Is there anybody who enjoys the game more than Chris Chelios? You should see him during warmups. Just laughing, messing around, last one off the ice. He’s about to play his 1,580th game tonight. He’s about to turn 46 next month. And he’s out there enjoying the game like he’s a rookie.
It’s pretty refreshing. Just thought I’d point it out.
Postgame notes: Not much to say after this 4-1 loss. I’m sure everything I said in the blog posting when the Wild got waxed in Detroit two weeks ago could be repeated.
The Red Wings are better than every team in the NHL, but they are way better than the Wild.
It’s not even a contest when these two teams meet, as you’ll read in tomorrow’s paper.
“That’s our measuring stick and we’ve got a long way to go,” Brian Rolston said. “And we know that. We’re not close to that team right now. We’ve got to get better and that’s a good, humbling thing.”
Marian Gaborik followed up his five-goal game with a poor game. His line had one assist to extend his point streak to seven games — one off tying his career high — but he had had two shots, two penalties, two giveaways and he was a minus-2.
Lots of two’s, but none of them goals.
How about this for efficient? Every line scored for Detroit tonight. Dominik Hasek improved to 9-0-2 against the Wild, although most games I’ve seen him play the Wild is virtually a night off the Hall-bound goalie.
If Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom played tonight, it would have been REALLY ugly. And this was ugly, folks.
OK, I’m out. Happy holidays everybody.
