Finally, Game 3

Posted on April 14th, 2008 – 6:58 PM
By Michael Russo

Aaron Voros and Chris Simon in. No Matt Foy. Defense the same. Hannan in, Leopold out.

It was so nice out around 5ish, I decided to walk to the arena rather than take the media bus. But instead of dragging my bag the couple miles or so, I threw it onto the bus.

Of course, I beat the bus to the arena, so I wound up talking to the CBC photog who was assigned to get B roll of the players entering the arena for CBC’s Intro tonight.

I couldn’t do anything until my bag got to the arena, so I was helping the guy ID Avalanche players and the few Wild players who opted to take cabs rather than the bus.

The funniest shot he got was a purple Freedom Cab van that pulled up to the players’ entrance. Out came the Goonies, Derek Boogaard, Todd Fedoruk and Chris Simon, all with Starbucks coffees, all with their pregame growls on their face.

They even paid. As the cab pulled away, I am not kidding when I say the cabbie screamed, “Beat Minnesota.” If he had said it a few seconds earlier, I might really have had a story on my hands.

I do have one piece of news. Avs defenseman Scott Hannan could barely walk into the arena. It honestly took him two minutes to walk the 100 yards from his car into the building.

So he’s definitely hurt, which could be one reason why Jordan Leopold is apparently a gametime decision.

Still no word on the Wild’s roster. We’ll see if Matt Foy will get a shot. Of Foy, Aaron Voros and Simon, two will play I’d think. Unless Benoit Pouliot plays wing, which I don’t see.

Vancouver Canucks GM Dave Nonis has been fired.

More soon.

Why would the cabbie scream that? Why wouldn’t he (or she) scream something like “Minnesota Sucks!”? Did he/she think she was driving Avs players to the arena?

kj says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:08 pm

Huey, Dewey and Louie???

The cabbie yelled that because the Chiefs weren’t in town… :P

Were they drinking Sugar-Free Hazelnut Nonfat Lattes?

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:11 pm

I actually find that really funny. I can just picture this skinny little guy yelling it at then screeching off like twenty feet before he has to stop at a light or something. It takes balls to yell something like that at those three. A tip of the cap to the guy.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:12 pm

Unless he thought they were Avs players… that would be even funnier…

KBG says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:19 pm

I got hammered at work today for suggesting the Wild try Foy instead of Voros or Simon. I don’t see the need to dress Fedoruk, Boogaard, Simon, and Voros against Colorado. Foy isn’t the most talented guy on the team, but he busts his butt (ala Radivojevic) and has provided a bit of a spark in the few games he’s played in this year. Am I alone thinking Foy might not be a bad idea?

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:27 pm

Because its the Avs instead of Cal or someone else, I see Foy, Voros and Simon as a push. The only edge to Simon is that he’s more likely to take a leadership role by getting on guys if the team gets behind. Voros and Foy are only cheerleaders at this point.

toivo says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:30 pm

I’ve always kind of liked Foy. He’s fast, has some size and plays hard and makes things happen (and sometimes even good things). But then sometimes his legs are overriding his brain. Maybe we’ll see some Sheppard-Foy-Voros?

toivo says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:34 pm

And btw, if you watched the Calgary-Sharks game last night, that should demonstrate the value of having the muscle out there against the Av. They have to be able to catch ‘em to hit ‘em, but I think you saw a very uncomfortable Sharks team out there when Calgary started hitting them every chance they got, and I think the Wild can make the Av players uncomfortable in a similar way. Passes start to get a little bit rushed and go astray. But they gotta be able to catch ‘em to make it work.

toivo says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:36 pm

Skate and hit, skate and hit, skate and hit. Then repeat.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:45 pm

tovio, undeer your reasoning putting Foy and Voros out there would probably make sense. They can both check well enough, and they are fairly fast skaters. I wound’t mind seeing them out there with Shep, but I have a feeling that the Avs would take advantage of that lineup.

Greg says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:49 pm

I would like to see Foy out there for his non-stop motor, but he tends to take some bad penalties trying to make plays that shouldn’t be made.

jimlove says:

April 14th, 2008 at 7:53 pm

I like the shep-foy-voros line. Didn’t we call that the kid line back in Nov? IIRC they did some pretty decent stuff when radio was having a rough time. Maybe JL just gives foy the same line he gave voros before last game - don’t take stupid penalties.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:05 pm

jimlove, if Voros is anything like me he can be told all day not to take those penalties, but he still will. When I played I had this undeniable urge to check from behind.

My dad would say, if you can see the numbers on the back of his jersey, don’t hit him. I’d say ok, and then when I’d see the poor sucker and him thikning he was safe cause he wasn’t facing me I couldn’t help it, I had the check him, sometimes with a cross check.

GreenStar says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:07 pm

you might be the only one KBG. foy is vastly overrated IMHO.

sure he skates hard and puts out effort but he has almost zero control. I need more than that.

woodcock says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:09 pm

Agree on Foy. Losing Branko hurts.

Kirk Wise says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:17 pm

I was reading the Farber article about Avery at SI.com. I clicked on this link called “NHL player resembling entertainers”. I found it pretty funny. Gabby makes, and appearance, and check out who they say Iggy looks like.

Big D of Farmtown says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:18 pm

I would rather have Foy’s speed then Simon’s grit tonight. Yes Foy takes some dumb penalties but the Avs are skilled team which can burn the grit.

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:26 pm

My guess is the cabbie didn’t know they were Wild players, thought they were Avs hence the command, “Beat Minnesota!” with the understood “you” in front of the command. ‘Course, being a cabbie, he might not know English well enough and said it wrong.

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:27 pm

Oh, I say Simon and his playoff experience and grit for tonight.

Ash says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:28 pm

Kirk- that was great thanks for sharing. Some of those were just plain cruel.

Walt now in Dubai says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:28 pm

I would like to see Simon in over Foy. Foy has more speed but it looks like he does not no how to use it half the time. Simon brings more to the table I think. Gabby gets 2 pts tonight.

GO WILD

Ash says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:29 pm

I am sure the fellas were messing with the cabbie on the way over to the game telling him they were AV’s players with that bunch in the cab who would argue.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:32 pm

Kirk- What Ash said…

Ash says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:34 pm

It has been almost a month since Foy has played so hard to weigh in on this one. Whoever gets the nod play your a$$ off, play smart, and finish your checks. Go Wild!

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:34 pm

If Gabby gets two pts tonight the Wild win. BTW Walt, are you still in Dubai?

Dickie Dunn says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:35 pm

Simon over Foy for sure. Voros over Foy for sure. I don’t understand the Foy obsession held by some.

Wonder if the cabbie took them the longer route too…

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:40 pm

Walt, what the h3ll you doing in Dubai? hot enough for ya?! :)

Kevin in PA says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:42 pm

Never mind about that bad feeling I had about my boys.

WildLover says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:48 pm

I don’t have a good feeling about this game. Who’s with me?

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:49 pm

Foy, Voros, Simon and Rietz? JL might skate Mike Ramsey if it kept Q guessing.

Ash says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:50 pm

Does someone have Bandgeeks prayer handy? I will look for it.

Walt now in Dubai says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:50 pm

Rogue- Yes, I get back to MN May 10. So I have to keep up with the Wild via internet. I think it was you who asked how this place is. It’s very nice, cleaness place I’ve been. Great food and friendly people, you schould check it out when/if you get a chance.

phil-working, not to hot sunny and 85 today but in the summer it hits 115 weekly.

Dickie Dunn says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:50 pm

I have a good feeling about this game. Some troll said it was the tater tot hotdish yesterday. I didn’t have any so it wasn’t that.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

I think Walt fell back asleep…

WildLover says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:51 pm

Rogue, you have a good sense of humor. that’s a good idea though. LOL

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:52 pm

Phil, he’s flying a helicopter and staying in one of the most unique places in the world, all on someone else’s dime. Not a bad gig…

Walt now in Dubai says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:54 pm

Rogue- not a bad idea, it is 5:55 am

Kevin in PA says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:54 pm

Oh, who noticed the note Russo put up about Vancouver’s GM receiving his walking papers?

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:56 pm

I was in Vancouver the last week of march and people where not happy with the Casucks (yes I walked around in my Wild gear and got dirty looks). No too surprising.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:57 pm

I am definitely not a fan of the ‘join in progress’… aks the JIP.

Ash says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:57 pm

This was contributed by Bandgeek before last game:

I shall offer my prayer for the evening, please bow your heads…. Oh great Hockey Gods! Please bestow upon our boys in Iron Range Red strong goal tending, fast legs and wonderous puck handling. We beg you oh Gods of Hockey, make all their goals count, and make them happen often. In the name of Gordie, Herbie, and the Great One, drop the puck!!

Denny says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:57 pm

Canucks missed playoffs in two of the last three seasons, IIRC.

Alan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:59 pm

Hey guys….yeah huge huge news right now, Nonis is out. I kind of think he should have had one more chance, but in this market, you can’t miss the playoffs 2 out of 3 years and expect to keep your job.

woodcock says:

April 14th, 2008 at 8:59 pm

Does Burke return?

kgopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:00 pm

Compared to the usual shouting match pregame cr@p from fsn, the 45 broadcast is a breathe of fresh air. Now if they could just work on picture quality…. Too funny about the 3 Horsemen and the cab ride.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:02 pm

Sonofabitch. Nashville just scored to tie the game. This will only delay my enjoyment of the Wild game. I hate you Vs.

Alan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:02 pm

Some people are saying a blast from the past will return like Burke or Pat Quinn, others are saying they may want someone totally new.

I’m worried for coach Alain Vigneault who I personally really like. But usually when the GM changes, so does the coach, right?

Denny says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Burke … no news about him. Apparently Nonis had to do more than just bring in Luongo. He needed a scorer.

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Fantastic. Nashville just tied the ‘Wings. I can’t watch VS for the game because the FCC says Nashville is my home team. Super.

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

ok walt, thanks rogue.

Wood, i think noonis was a Burke protege

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Wooo! Awesome! Nashville just score a second time!! Now 4 - 3 Preds! Sweet!

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:03 pm

Never mind. Nashville just scored in about 5 seconds.

Lemmiwinks_ahp says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

Wow Nashville up 4-3 with 3 to go in the 3rd

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

yes austin, but we want the Preds to win!

Alan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:04 pm

Way to go Nashville!

Kevin in PA says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:05 pm

Often, Alan, but not always. Therrien was hired by Craig Patrick, who was replaced by Ray Shero, and Shero kept Therrien. There was a lot of speculation, perhaps even expectation, that Therrien would go too. A really good move not to do that though so far.

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:06 pm

GO PREDS 4-3 now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:07 pm

phil, I guess that is true. But I want to watch the Wild start!!

WildLover says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:08 pm

Why do i prefer the Wings to win? I hate Nashville.

Bandgeek says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:09 pm

Just got home from dinner at my sisters. Thank you for leading prayer this evening Ash. I would have been home sooner but I had to stop on my way home and pick up beer.

Alan I would think at this point it might be better to go with a fresh face. And the coach doesn’t always change with the GM, but I wouldn’t be surprised.

I’m trying not to guess the out come of tonight’s game, just hope the boys play hard and get a win.
GO WILD!!!!

Elbowgrease says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:09 pm

This join in progress stuff is total B.S

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:09 pm

I don’t care who wins, I just want the Nashville game to go away so I can watch the Wild. I’m so sick of the FCC crap. With all the money I pay to watch Hockey, I think we should get an override on this network crap.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:10 pm

I just found out that CI online has the Wild game blacked out! Two out of the three games tonight are f’n blacked out!!! F-you VS and NHL!!!!!!!

Kevin in PA says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:11 pm

Here’s where I really think your anger at Versus and the doubleheader should be directed: the Det-Nash game started at 7:30 EDT. I think it’s the ONLY first-round game so far that started at 7:30. Every other game that started “early” like this was at 7. No reason that I know of for them to have pushed it back a half hour.

Alan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:12 pm

Are guys in Minnesota and you can’t watch the Wild? Or is it just outside of Minnesota?

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:12 pm

Excellent! Go Preds!

Elbowgrease says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:12 pm

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:13 pm

Drunk guy doing the anthem tonight…

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:14 pm

I’m in Oregon and have the online package so I am able to watch four games at once, unless two of the three are blacked out!!!

Bandgeek says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:14 pm

joey he does their anthem all the time. He annoys me, just sing the anthem and drop the puck.

Denny says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:14 pm

Simon is in.

WildLover says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:15 pm

Versus: Screw the advertisements and put on the game, for goodness sakes.

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:17 pm

Alan - I agree that AV has done a good job with what he has had and yes, its outstate people that JIP on Vs. - it’s local TV in MN.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:19 pm

Get something started on teh PP please!!

Bandgeek says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:19 pm

The Mr doesn’t think Reitz will play unless we, God forbid, have another injury on D, or Hill or Carns really need the break. Plus he needs to skate with the team more before they put him in a game situation.

DP says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:23 pm

Damn Theodore looking tough tonight.

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:23 pm

Voros just got shoved onto Theodore… shouldn’t that be a penalty on Foote?

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:28 pm

Nice shot Johnsson - a goal from you would be huge

Bandgeek says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:28 pm

If you look at the replay not only did Foote push him into Jose, he also slashed at his arm with his stick.

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:29 pm

Is it just me, or does Sheppard look bigger? The beginning of the season, he used to be skinny. Looking at him now, he has some bulk.

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:32 pm

I’d like to see Forsberg take a slapshot in the foot. He plays 2 different games. If he thinks the ref is watching, he plays one way. If the ref isn’t watching, he plays cheap.

Denny says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:33 pm

Good check on Foote by Simon earlier.

Denny says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:35 pm

Brunette all alone!

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

gotta pick up Bruno there…who blew that assignment?

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

And that’s your cue to exit DR.

Bandgeek says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:36 pm

Fudge… Oh look all the little Avs fans have pompoms, how cute, I’ll take my towel please.

Cam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Looks a lot like the 1st game..Wild dominate the play but Colorado gets a rebound goal. The Wild need to play smarter.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:37 pm

NOw a PK…. awesome. Just get out of this period guys.

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:37 pm

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

real classy MN in AL. “Let’s see the superstar get injured”. Well, then, I hope Gaborik gets cancer!

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

not what we need, Kimmy.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:39 pm

Where is the physicality!?! Hit someone!

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:40 pm

Such sportsmanship.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:40 pm

wtf was Johnsson doing?? Dumb.

Cam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:41 pm

Once again the refs are going to dictate this one. Wild will be chasing again after they kill off these two PP’s.

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:41 pm

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:41 pm

“real classy MN in AL. “Let’s see the superstar get injured”. Well, then, I hope Gaborik gets cancer!”

You a douche. Like cancer and a injured foot are in the same ballpark. Moron.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:42 pm

Ohhh!! I see Adam. I thought that was an odd thing to say. You just meant que to leave the interview?

Denny says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:43 pm

We need to put some bodies on these guys!

darkknight9 says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:43 pm

Anything more poetic in the justice dept? DR makes a real classy move in how he lets Andy go… Andy scores the moment DR goes on-air in the booth.

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:44 pm

You just meant que to leave the interview?

Yep and solid PKs there too.

DP says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:44 pm

Penalty kill looked good, sucks to outplay them and be down 1-0. I predict more Boogie in the 2nd.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:47 pm

Because VS is carrying this, the NHL doesn’t have the right to put it online. So, I haven’t seen any of the play, did they really outplay the Avs?

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:47 pm

miss me boys?

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:49 pm

RG, not as much from what I saw, but we joined the game late. The hitting is not there. they need to lay out some bodies and take it to em.

Joe Wants the Cup says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:49 pm

Its getting kind of tiring to outplay the Avs and come out on the short end of the period.

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:49 pm

Well, that’s appropriate. As soon as Risedump goes on the broadcast the Mild tank right into the crapper. The Dumpper positively blows!. Puhleeeze let him go off to the Maple Loafs so we can get a GM who knows what the “F” he’s doing. Is that so much to ask?

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:49 pm

Gopher have you tried watching it from http://www.channelsurfing.net?

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:50 pm

This one’s over.

How’s about gooning it up?

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:50 pm

decent energy from the boys, they need to pick up the physical play..more hits from Simon and fridge

Walt now in Dubai says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:51 pm

Gabby needs to show up for the last 2, I still think he gets his two points

AustinTXwildfan says:

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:51 pm

alan,
who’s on the short list, if you know, for the ‘nucks GM position?

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:52 pm

Austin…though their lonely in dater’s cess pool, ignore them, and they’ll go away

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

I am afraid if the Wild to not turn up the physical play, they may be doomed to a loss. Simon needs to blast someone.

BDS says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

Who are the zebra’s tonight anyway?

misko says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:55 pm

sux to be down 0-1 after a good period. What happened on the goal? Someone didn’t cover his player. Gaborik was on the ice too. Minus 1 for da man. What is he now, minus 3 in the series?? Seems to me like he’s becoming more of a liability in the playoffs when he’s not scoring (since he ain’t defending either).

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:56 pm

Thanks AoW, but I’ve already paid for this service, I’m done paying to watch for this season…Looks like a decent deal though.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:56 pm

haha i don’t think anybody likes dater in denver man. I actually like what i’ve read from russo. at least he appears interested in hockey.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:57 pm

channelsurfing.net is free man. just scroll down and click on the link that says minnesota vs. colorado. should load right up and stream VS live

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 9:59 pm

What is frustrating to me is that Gabby has yet to consistently show up in big games and especially in the playoffs. Do the other teams even worry about shutting him down in the playoffs?

So far in this series we have been the same team as a year ago. Not that physical, no two of our skill players show up at a time, and the pressure is all on our defense and role players.

misko says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:00 pm

We def need to put bodies on them…We need exactly what Sarich did to Marleau last night.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:00 pm

I’ll try again Avs…

Bandgeek says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:00 pm

On a side note. I’m very disappointed in the playoff beard efforts from the boys. Only Voros looks like he’s trying.

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:01 pm

Well, we frustrated you in the 1st again. getting tired listening to these local yokels talk about Veilleux checking Foppa, like no one’s ever done it before. Maybe he’ll get his frog legs taken out so he can sit with Parrish and Retardivojevic.

RogueGopher says:

Avs, I owe you one man. If you’re ever in Oregon I’ll get you a real beer…

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:02 pm

did it work? glad to hear it. i can’t have a hockey fan go without watching his team.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:03 pm

truly appreciated!

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:04 pm

“Simon takes it from behind” hahahahahaha!

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:04 pm

We are getting outplayed iso far in this period.

I think gabby is not producing because the other team is paying TOO much attention to him RG.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:05 pm

goaltender interference. dumb penalty to take for the wild.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:05 pm

Damnit Voros. No need to Hump Theodore to get the puck in the net.

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:06 pm

Good call - bad play AV, mistake or not

IrishPurple says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:06 pm

evening boys. How are the good guys playin to this point?

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:06 pm

NO GOAL! Penalty turds! Voros skates like he’s made out of play dough!

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

playing okay, Irish, no results though.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

Might be ATX, but then isn’t someone else capable of scoring? We’re not that one dimensional are we?

Classic Voros penalty.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:07 pm

freaking arnie. needs to put that home

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:08 pm

wtf?? This is garbage! How do you hook there?? UGH!

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:08 pm

for crying out loud!

DP says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:08 pm

This is an honest question, how far can a goalie come out of the crease and still get an interference call?

Wild fan in MI says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:08 pm

the trip to the box is getting frustrating

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

oops…sorry Carns, it’s Gaby in the box

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

Was that a good call MN people? I didn’t see it because Vs. decides not to show replays of penalties.

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

I’ve never heard homers complain like wild announcers. This team ust be part Canadian the way they’re convinced everyone’s out to get them. “It’s everybody’s fault but ours!”

DP says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

I gotta say I know D&D always complain about the calls but that call on Gabby seemed pretty weak.

Wild fan in MI says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:09 pm

it would seem that you can get called anywhere for it, figuring it happens behind the net too

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:10 pm

i think as long as the goalie is involved in the play, you can’t touch him.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:10 pm

Don’t you know Dave, Canada belongs to Minnesota…

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:11 pm

DaK, D&D are complete homers and they need to be replaced. It’s not news to us. They suck.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:11 pm

oooo puck was rolling

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:12 pm

Was that part of the Gadsden Purchase?

BDS says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:12 pm

Figures Tim Peel and Marc Joannette what a couple of tools…..

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:12 pm

Good chance by Demo. Too bad, that would have been huge.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:13 pm

No, we just do cause we say we do. It sounds sketchy but the Canadians are afraid to question us.

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:14 pm

Who’s got a prediction on which game will got to 3 or 4OT?

Greg says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

OK, these penalties can even themselves up anytime now.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

UGh. Come on Shep. I like the standing up, but just let them take the penalty!

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

nice little chicken shit slash by Lappy there on the big man.

DP says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

God Lapppy’s a pussy.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:15 pm

Here we go…

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:16 pm

Oh wow.. Nevermind. Shep didn’t get the penalty. I stand corrected with my foot in my mouth.

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:16 pm

Backstrom held the stick! And Boogaard double teamed him. Wuss.

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:16 pm

whoever is calling color for Vs is an idiot.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:17 pm

Boogey didn’t get there in time, Shep face washed him and he fell over…

DP says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:17 pm

We just can’t get a stick on a rebound tonight!

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:17 pm

We got to kill this one on principle. Backstrom holds stick like on his dates with men.

IrishPurple says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:18 pm

Sittin here in Colorado watching the game. Holy cats these Avs announcers are horrible

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:18 pm

come on, i bet you guys would love Lappy if he was in a wild sweater

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:19 pm

I’d take Phanuef, but never Lappy…

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

The Forsberg Flop!

IrishPurple says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

Go figure Forsberg takes a dive?

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

This is awful. They are trying to hump each other on the ice out there. Just get a nice clean check!

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:20 pm

i’m telling you man, Lappy is a cool cat, i used to hate him when he was with the kings

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:21 pm

And you guys would love Boogie if he was on yours.

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:21 pm

Those Avs announcers aren’t just the Avs announcers… they are the national feed for VS tonite. You’d think they’d maybe hold off on the bias just a wee bit.

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:21 pm

Irish, I wish I could get Altitude. at least Peter Mcnab can talk hockey and the production quality is high. Watching Wild broadcasts is like public access.

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:22 pm

Hill and Fosberg…that’s a win for the Wild.

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:22 pm

I’ll take that trade every day… Hill and Forsberg both sitting in the box!

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:22 pm

How is getting porked by a Czech a dive?

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:22 pm

yeah mcnabb and john kelly are calling a good game, versus guys are awful.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:22 pm

Wow… Hill raped Floppa. That was crazy. I would still perfer a nice clean check.

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:23 pm

Or a hold?

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:23 pm

Let’s just play the rest of the game 4 on 4. More space and the Avs can’t trap/block shots. So damn boring.

IrishPurple says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:24 pm

Nah I can’t get the Versus feed here, it’s blacked out. I have to watch it on Altitude.

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:25 pm

Yep, lots of crazy czechs named “Hill”.

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:25 pm

two nice chances for Burns…can’t finish them.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:25 pm

Theodore blows cock. Damnit.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:26 pm

at this point, the wild may be third fourth or fifth as far as trapping teams in the NW division.

Dave's a killer says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:26 pm

Lappy on Gabby! hahaha!

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:26 pm

AustinTXwildfan says:

Boogie and Simon together? I like it.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:29 pm

freaking the avs need to get it out of the zone, its only a matter of time before the wild tie this up if the puck stays down here

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:29 pm

DaK, Skooba has a frog mouth.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:29 pm

too close!

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:30 pm

I’d get Boogey and Simon back out there asap.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:30 pm

pace is REALLY picking up

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

A PPG here sure wouldn’t suck.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

bad bad bad time for a penalty. please keep us in this theodore.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:31 pm

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:32 pm

nice sell job by johnsson

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:32 pm

Please get something here on this PP. I pray to the hockey gods. Please get a goal.

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:32 pm

man, gotta solve Theodore. PP on order, let’s get one boys…

MN_in_AL says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:33 pm

How does Nummelin take a shot, and then not know that it was blocked right back to him. ???

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:34 pm

good kill

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:34 pm

too fine…looking for the perfect pass…that’s a sign Theodore’s getting in their heads.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:35 pm

skoula is feeling that one

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:36 pm

uh oh…Mikko in the box…not how we want to start the third.

Cam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:36 pm

Pretty even period…These refs are horrible. JL is really hated.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

These god forsaken penalties are going to kill us. THis is awful. I am having a hard time watching this crap.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

great save by backstrom. crap

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

wow…nice work by Backs there…

Adam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Great stop Backs

El Gato says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Whew, should be 2-0.

Elbowgrease says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:37 pm

Backs is keeping us in it.

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Thx Backs, two HUGE saves. third game now going to the third on a donut. Ugh.

Marty S says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Great face offs by Belanger…wasn’t he supposed to be good at those?

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:38 pm

Now if they can keep the trend of only scoring in the third we will be okay.

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

Anemic.

Has anybody told the Dumpper that you need players who can score?

PMB is worthless.

Bandgeek says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

I’m having internet problems so I’m shutting down for the night and will watch the third minus the lap top. I might as well change my name to Parrish I’m so Grumpy at the moment, I wonder if I have anything chocolate in the house…. Oooooo Toblerone!! Night all.

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:40 pm

Keep sucking down that Kool-aid Austin!!

What a lemming.

DP says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:41 pm

Why would JL be hated?

Lemmiwinks_ahp says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:41 pm

Anyone else see the look that Lappy was giving Boogey after Hedujk slashed Backs? Too bad he’s a pussy and won’t do anything about it…

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:43 pm

They ought to put boogey in front on the next pp, its been the most effective distraction on Jose. He is stopping everything he sees so got to take away his eyes.

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:43 pm

AAAHH! 45 is showing the bracket again! Morons!

GreenStar says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:43 pm

someone was talking about how we need to start hitting. we are outhitting them 13 to 11

Dickie Dunn says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:43 pm

Mike, can you fill us up some water bottles with some black cherry Kool Aid? I heard you are good at it.

Lappy was kinda funny there, just tapping Boogey begging to get beheaded.

We get little hooking calls on us. They whack us in the head for us to get a PP.

Lemmiwinks_ahp says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

Rogue - maybe Boogey could turn around and face Theo and wave his stick around :-)

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

I watched Calgary spot the Sharks 3 tallies last night and thought that it was still anybody’s game. The Mild are down 1-0 and it’s OVER !!

What a punch of pansies.

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

I think Cam meant “heated”, not “hated”.

Avs own Wild says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

nobody in there right mind is going to fight someone that much bigger.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

Mike. they have only scored goals in the third. Therefore I said ‘keep up the trend’. You can call me a lemming all you want.. I am just stating the truth.

Dickie Dunn says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:44 pm

Can’t get anything past Jose. Need a fat rebound like Bruno got.

Cam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:46 pm

DP,

He is known for complaining about the refs constantly. This goes against him. Colorado is playing an equally penalized game, but not getting the calls.

The hook call on Koivu…not a penatly.
The hook call on Gabby…not a penalty.

Sakic should have been called hooking Rolston. Johnnson should have drawn a call for the roughing. Lappy interfered with Backs…no call.

The Wild are going to have to keep it extra clean to escape into OT or with a win.

We also have Simon…another reason the refs hate JL or the Wild.

GreenStar says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:46 pm

what they need to do is start hitting the net, 14 missed shots. only 5 blocked. 2 giveaways and 10 takeaways. we are looking good in every stat but goals.

burns has 17 minutes of ice, johnsson 16 and change

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

The Mild are not built for the playoffs.

How many first round implosions will it take before Risedump gets canned?

Any guesses?

Dickie Dunn says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

I don’t think Simon has anything to do with anything… Call me crazy.

People need to watch more soaps if they are looking for that kind of drama… Geez.

El Gato says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:47 pm

Mike-out of your dave’s a killer ID? Come out and join us at Tom Reid’s before game 5.

phil says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:48 pm

well if there is any positive, I heard the Avs best period is the 2nd, and we kept them scoreless, maybe we can work our 3rd period magic now..f’ing theodore is on tonight, we gotta crash the net more…avs own wild so far you seem ok

MikeInGA says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:48 pm

how has it been so far besides the score? still nowhere near tv.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:48 pm

I am extremely grumpy due to the crappy news at work that we are stating 14 hour days… therefore this game is making my mood even worse. The Wild need to score badly. This is definnitely the last game of this series that I will be able to watch live. I would like it to end well.

Dickie Dunn says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:49 pm

Well, they did have a bunch of PPs in the 2nd Phil.

El Gato says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

Also, Boogey needs to remember to point the stick properly at the net instead of pointing it back toward the end boards.

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

The Mild couldn’t score in a whorehouse,MikeInGA.

Cam says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

Aow…agree with Phil. Don’t mind having you here. Now can you get rid of Mike and Dave.

MiGA…pretty even…ton of bad calls. Goalies both playing well. Offensive lines for both teams being shut down.

RogueGopher says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

MikeinGA, I thought Georgia had electricity now? :) I keed, I keed…

GreenStar says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

brad meier is the standby ref tonight. wonder if he is telling the crew to stick it up JL’s arse?

i don’t mind calling penalties, just a little consistency is all. backstrom has be run into twice without calls, what gives?

Mike says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:53 pm

Prediction: Mild won’t score again until they hit the ‘X’ later in the week.

They’re DOOMED !!

MikeInGA says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:53 pm

rouge live in GA through MN but nowhere near either, and during playoffs. its brutal..and according to the wife we got electricity last week!!!

AustinTXwildfan says:

Kirk Wise says:

April 14th, 2008 at 10:54 pm

Busy night with the kids tonight. I just have to say what a freaking disgraceful officiating job by the refs tonight. I don’t know about anyone else but I’m going to have a coronary if my blood pressure gets any higher. What a freaking joke.

When is Jacques going to unleash The Equipment? They are running our guys, and slashing our goaltender. Aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrggggghhhhh!!!!!!!

joeythelemur says:

Great job Voros. Thanks.

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:20 pm

I don’t think we need to see Voros again this game.

cpuck1 says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:24 pm

Voros is 27 yrs old and needs to stop playing like an 18 yr old. He wiped out our 1st period goal when he ran into Theodore and just gave the Avs another one. You’re a pro. Play like one.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:25 pm

These guys are ALL OVER Gabby. He has no room to move at all.

April 14th, 2008 at 11:28 pm

5th OT game in a row

cpuck1 says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:28 pm

Gabby is terrified of contact and the Avs know he will never go to the net when he can bail out and curl toward the boards.

joeythelemur says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:29 pm

Well, you really can’t hang the 1st period score on Voros since that’s an easy stop for Theodore if Voros doesn’t fall on him. In fact, JT probably catches that one before SRV gets his stick on it.

Voros still not getting it done tonight. Man, do we miss Radio?

Nick in New York says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:29 pm

Mikko looks like Forsberg did in his prime.

GreenStar says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

thing is on their 2nd goal, if voros doesn’t clear brunette out, we are bitching about that. he did what we beg the wild do but he did it into backstrom. right idea, bad result

Seamus says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

Gabby needs to show up for OT.

He can’t hide forever! He’s gotta get a goal sometime.

AustinTXwildfan says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

NiNY, I just like to point out when he does good things that people usually bitch about him not doing. ;)

Kevin in PA says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:30 pm

Nick, it was probably Mike in disguise, not the real Austin.

sunshine says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:31 pm

GreenStar says:

GreenStar says:

April 14th, 2008 at 11:37 pm

MN_in_AL says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:14 am

In OT, the Avs were stick-checking. They weren’t skating. They were flopping, clutching, grabbing, swinging their sticks. They weren’t taking the body. They were tired, and they weren’t thinking.

I take back that comment about Skouba and the lead in his skates. He played Ryan Smith coming into the zone perfectly.

And for whoever thinks Gabby might be coasting during the game, I’ll take Gabby’s play in OT over anyone else out there. He left Sakic holding his skates. He kept the puck in the offensive zone, allowing our D a break.

GreenStar says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:14 am

we didn’t lose foster because of touch icing, we lost foster because the san jose cat played foster and not the puck and that is bad hockey in that situation.

AustinTXwildfan says:

Random thoughts:

With all the props to Theodore (much deserved, he kept the avs in it) Backstrom played a hell of a game as well.

Will Don Russo be able to get a story in tomorrow’s paper?

Avs have gotta be tired, I like our chances tomorrow. Sakic and Forsberg payed a lot of minutes.

Greg says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:15 am

These ot playoff games do a number on my heart and my sleep. I am so wired right now I won’t be able to fall asleep for a little while.

Gabby looked good during the first 3 periods, but he looked awesome during the ot. He had legs when it looked like the Avs D didn’t.

Dickie Dunn says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:15 am

I think Jose thought the puck was going around the net like Finger did. Hockey Gods gave us a little back. I don’t know if it’s the prayer or what…

This series is unbelievable.

Dave’s a Killer… Dave’s a Mess… Wasn’t the tater tot hotdish.

Looks like the Wild haven’t had hotdish for awhile. They just seem hungrier than the Avs.

Seamus says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:15 am

One of these games, Gabby is going to show up for the whole thing and have a great game, and the Avs are going to be in BIG trouble. :-) We have a lot of people playing great right now though, which I am happy about. Go Wild!

phil says:

By far AND away Gabby looked best in OT..’lanche, looked gassed..I think the only way the win tomorrow is if JT plays even more super human than he did today. great game though..I’m very please with the Wild’s effort and if not for Voros brain farting, we may have won it sooner.

Hockeydad says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:18 am

Was it true or what that the Avs looked constantly like they were at the end of their shift and the Wild just starting theirs in the OT?

GreenStar says:

sackitch had 25:52
foppa had 24:15

Dickie Dunn says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:19 am

Wild must be keeping 100% O2 on the bench. They looked spectacular all game and in OT. They really want to prove the DON wrong…

GreenStar says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:21 am

nummi has 2 shifts in the 3rd, leaving him very fresh for OT.

GreenStar says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:23 am

#10 had 8 shifts and 4:22 in the 3rd but 7 shifts and 5:07 in OT. might be why he was fresh.

joeythelemur says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:24 am

OK, gotta pack it in here, but how about Demo on that winner as well? He floats through the slot and the Avs D follows him (as they should). If he doesn’t go to the net, PMB isn’t open. Really nice play.

Dickie Dunn says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:24 am

Nobody is worse than Simmons or Eddie Munster. I still remember when he was visually pissed when he got the champagne when the Twinks clinched. That, and he seemingly doesn’t have a clue about sports.

Where is Joe Schmit when you need him?

phil says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:25 am

DD, by all means clear the dude, just not into your own goalie!

phil says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:26 am

was there some “controversy” on the icing call at the end there?..i heard the talking heads say something about it

Kevin in PA says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:27 am

Can’t imagine what, phil. Seemed pretty straightforward to me (that it would be icing, that it hit the back of the net and Rolston got there first easily).

Dickie Dunn says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:28 am

Phil, if he doesn’t clear the dude and he scores what would you say then? Oh, he couldn’t clear him because he would have knocked him into the goalie.

Didn’t really matter, if Voros didn’t know him in there I’m sure the guy would have went Jimmy SuperFly Snuka and ran the goalie anyways. With no call.

misko says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:28 am

Wow..what a game. Total domination in OT. Backstrom has been AWESOME every single game. Skoula is playing his best hockey and is HUGE for us at the D. Fedoruk - Awesome. Roli - Great. Miko…the way this series is going, they’re all starting to play better. I’m very impressed.

BDS says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:29 am

Russo…get plently of coffee tomorrow. You have a ton of work ahead of you.

Since I got lucky with the PMB OT winner, I predict a 4-1 Wild Win. The Lanche are starting to look tired.

Cam says:

Greg says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:35 am

I just saw an interview with Forsberg on NHL Network and his line was that they didn’t play well. I think I’ve heard that now for three games. Either we’re in trouble when they turn it on or maybe they can’t play better.

phil says:

April 15th, 2008 at 12:35 am

DD, as I said, you clear him off to the side or try to tie him up, NOT into your goalie..if we’re doing what if’s…then what if that ended up hurting backstrom?

Gotcha BDS and Kevin, i just heard a passing comment and didn’t get what they we’re trying to get at.

Damn, gonna be hard to go to bed but I have to put the effort in asap. Gotta chat about going up 3-1 in 22-23 hours or so.

Cam, hate to hate on your prediction for tomorrow, but aren’t we pretty much guaranteed a 3-2 game? :-)

Fair enough DD and H3LL yes about the 3-1!

No prob…Lemmiwinks…not sure if I can take another OT game.

3 is enough for one series.

Ah. They don’t do it live, unfortunately. I don’t know how long it will take them to get the pondcast up on there; probably not ’til morning, at this rate.

or they are taking amphetemines.

I think Don bought them all Sugar Free Hazelnut Nonfat Lattes.

As has been mentioned by just about everyone, the Wild looked much stronger in OT. Doesn’t make any sense with them playing a pretty short bench and some guys playing some really big minutes, but it sounds like those 30 second shifts during the game paid dividends. Gotta hand it to the old man, it was Smart Hockey by Lemaire. The other thing about this series… the Wild players have completely bought into playing defense first and are checking tighter than I’ve seen most of the season. Maybe because Shultz is out everyone is making that extra effort or whatever, but it’s pretty clear that they’re not really giving up much and then Backstom’s been solid. It’s a good formula.

Not going to read all 690 posts. It was a hell of a win.

Everyone solid. Team effort all the way. Koivu getting better every game.

Killing off those penalties was really important.

Right on Toivu, that is why I have felt Gabby is more valuable now than when he was scoring in bunches.

Hard to think about sleeping right now.

Hmm….I will say that the nice thing about having Altitude is that they’re immediately replaying the game…now the real question is do I want to watch it again!? Of course!

Oh and I did some stat checking of my own….NHL event summary says Gabby had 9 shots…not to shabby Gabby..man I need sleep

Gabby just needs to keep playing hard, and the goals will start to come.

About tomorrow… Colorado is no doubt a bit down after this, but each win gets that much harder. They really won’t want to go down 3-1 on their home ice. It will be interesting to see how the two teams come out after three OTs on back to back games at altitude. I have no worries about guys like Burns and Johnsson. They both seem to have amazing stamina. The rest of the team I’m really not sure about, so it will be interesting to see how they recover physically, and the same goes for the Av players. Certainly it looked like the Wild were the fresher team in OT tonight, and the VS announcer between the benches was saying how they were rolling every 30 seconds and that they had a lot more jump in OT. Will it translate to more jump tomorrow? I hope so.

These little details are fascinating to me.

I think gabby’s “success” in the OT will spill over to tomorrow’s game, or at least I hope it will

Toivo, it is nice being out West. I have watched to PMB goal on DVR about 8 straight times.

Tonight’s game might be the best I’ve seen the Wild play. The way they kept pressure on the Avs D and netminder was a thing of beauty. Tons of grit and determination in the corners and along the walls…and when the Avs did get control of the puck, our D was able to get back in great shape. In addition to the Koivus, Rolstons, Demo, etc., I thought Eric Belanger had a great game tonight! Congrats to the Wild.
