While we are counting down the minutes to the end of the business day, what do you think of this trade proposal by an Ottawa fan on HFboards.com:

To Ottawa: Niklas Backstrom, Mark Parrish, Petr Kalus

To Minnesota: Antoine Vermette, Martin Gerber, Josh Hennessy

Ask yourselves one important question:

If you are Bryan Murray, why in h-e double hockey sticks would you make that trade?

You know, this deal might not be bad at the trade deadline either, depending if the Wild is a playoff contender and if Harding is ready. Gerber and Backstrom are both UFAs. Backstrom's NTC will not be a problem because it ends in February.

If Vermette is not move but gets a one-year deal in arbitration, the Wild could try to sign him after a trade.

Parrish gets a chance to prove himself again and if it goes as last season, he will be move regardless.

Kalus and Hennessy -- they are in the air.

I think Parrish needs another go at it here.

I agree and I don't have a soft spot for him (former Husky and all :)). As a DR detractor, I guess I am at the point where I ready to see if this "million shots from the blue line" strategy is going to work.* Since that is the plan, Parrish is a good fit.

* But no, I am not over this team's C depth issue!

The questions you'd have to ask is: Is Harding ready to be No. 1?

Can we get more for Backstrom?

That deal would be more interesting to me if you throw Foligno in instead of Hennessy.
