Parrish talking to Nashville, among others

Checking in real quick to give a Mark Parrish update.
Just got an email from John Glennon, the Nashville Predators writer for the Tennessean.
In this morning’s blog, I mentioned Nashville as one potential destination for Parrish because I had talked with Glennon and he had a suspicion the Preds would be interested. I also know at one point Parrish’s name came up in the Marek Zidlicky discussions when they started Draft weekend (although the trade didn’t happen until July 1).
John’s indeed reporting in Thursday’s editions that the Predators were one of a “number of teams” that contacted Parrish’s agent, John Vollan, today.
Vollan told Glennon that it was “kind of an exploratory thing,” but it definitely makes sense because the Predators’ Alexander Radulov is so far AWOL after signing a contract in Russia and Steve Sullivan could still be out with a back injury. The Preds have plenty of cap room, too.
For more, see John’s story in the Tennessean tomorrow.
In my conversations with Parrish, he was a bit nervous about his situation just because of how late we are in the summer. He knows most teams are set about now, but Nashville is one team that could be looking for help. Parrish hadn’t ruled out playing overseas if nothing works out in the NHL, but it does appear a number of teams called Vollan today, so Parrish should be latching on somewhere at some point.
Also, Dallas Morning News hockey writer Mike Heika makes his case for Parrish in his Stars blog as you can see by clicking here. He also has some interesting things to say in relation to Antti Miettinen. Parrish is friendly with Mike Modano and Brett Hull, so maybe Parrish gets to play for the North Stars after all?
That’s it. Night.
