KHL makes concession, Mojzis free to report to Wild camp
Posted on September 6th, 2008 – 2:00 PMBy Michael Russo
Here is the latest on Tomas Mojzis, signed by the Wild in July, as reported by the Hockey News’ Ken Campbell.

Sounds like the Russian government put pressure on the KHL since the national team would be lacking some of its best players in international play. Plus, the NHL was correctly calling the KHL’s bluff.
Mojzis is behind Reitz and before Foster in the depth chart right now, isn’t he?
USA, USA, USA!
I dunno Kaz. I’m trying to figure that out myself. Granted he’s had a little more coffee than any remaining Aeros, but not much. I haven’t gotten over believing he might just be another Lakos. Right now in my mind, he’s not the most deserving of a shot. We’ll see.
From the last thread. I can just see the look on my friend’s faces if I showed up with a Skoula jersey. I think I would lose limbs and other parts that men don’t want to lose.
As for this KHL crap. I do believe that Russians may be the only people in the world more stuck up than Americans. “We have all kinds of money, we will do what ever we want.”
Riiiighhhht. Whatever Ruskies. Pick up some vodka, watch the backwards little league unfold, and leave me alone. Are the NHL and KHL really going to battle over Mojzi and Rudalov? Two guys that have little or no value to either league?
I know the consequences of these cases have further reach than just these two nobodies, but still. Maybe we could save the fight for when someone who matters jumps ship. If that would ever happen.
The NHL has money. It has the best competition in the world. It has Canadiens (something the KHL limits), which means it has the best players in the world. And it has the one thing the KHL will NEVER have. The Stanley Cup. It is a world renowned trophy. Guys grown up in Latvia wanting to hoist it.
The KHL cannot, and will not match up with the NHL in the areas that matter most to the players that matter most. Not now. Not ever.
OK. End rant.
I’m sure once you explain the logic of the Skoula sweater, they’ll buy you a beer.
Hmmm… Skoula gone, and free beer? This is sounding better all the time.
![]()
Bandgeek angry, no get job, went to stupid insider hoser. No get to go to Chicago with WRT and Co now. No new car next spring, only a few games, figgin insider hoser….. beer foamy. ME by lottery ticket show all those friggin hosers, when I win and buy acreage next door to Burnsie. Mr taking away computer now.
Oh, I’m so sorry BG. Beer make it better…
Lol, someone should ask the Hockey Lodge if they’ve ever sold a Skoula sweater.
Lakos… I believe he was in the system for three weeks before jetting back to Europe. Mojzis spent some time in the AHL unlike him. We’ll see when camp begins.
Nice rant Buddha. For one thing, it gave me an idea of what this thread needs - classic Don Cherry.
that sucks, band. So sorry.
Have one for us, eh?
So sorry to hear the wrong person got the job again, Bandgeek. ![]()
Buddha: Never mind your friends. If you showed up with a Skoula jersey, your friends would disavow any knowledge of your actions… ![]()

Sorry to hear about the job going to someone else Bandgeek. That may just mean that something even better is out there. Maybe you should see if Burns needs a pet sitter?
Moreover, if his girlfriend and brother need a pet sitter. Or maybe a Burns sitter.
Dammit, my Texans were playing well and are now getting screwed by terrible reffing. MFers.
Sunshine, it looks like Willie Parker is getting it done for you in Pittsburgh. Sorry ms.conduct, but the Steelers are probabl too much for the Texans. Although, Pittsburgh is my fantasy team defense, so I will be happy if Houston doesn’t score a single point.
Oh yeah, this is a hockey blog. When does the season start??
That was me up there…. I forgot to change the name again.. Oh, and WOO! Hines Ward touchdown!
Yeah, the announcer just said “the wheels are coming off” and he’s right. Oh, well, huge turnover right there. Go team. Okay, throw underneath to Walters a whole bunch now! And then kick some field goals!!!
I’d actually go with the field goal business, Ms. C. though I prefer passes to Andre Johnson.
And done. Hou 3 Pit 21. ![]()
Who got Mario? He’s fkin awesome.
Mario? Lemuix? I think He retired.. ![]()
Well, Parker is getting it done but Big Ben and specifically, Holmes, need to pick it up for my other league.
Is Holt injured? He’s done nothing so far.
Big Ben sucks. I hate him.
Just for that, Austin, I’m keeping goalie saves as a stat.
Noooooo!
Okay, whatever.. he still sucks. And he is a retard.
Kevin, everyone knows that Big Ben is an ass. Especially everyone in Pittsburgh.
Maybe, but he has a Super Bowl ring. And really, isn’t that what matters? For any team? For all the hatred directed at Gaborik on this board, if he led the Wild to a Cup, scoring 20 goals and 45 points in the playoffs, wouldn’t he be hailed despite all his flaws?
Once Gabby does that, I’ll let you know.
Glad I benched McGahee.
Should we not count your Hines Ward TDs, Austin, because they came from Roethlisberger?
I’m not sure he’d be for that, Kevin. But he went out to get beer so I guess we’ll have to wait to find out.
McNabb is killing on the field today — over 40 points.
Man, I’m getting skunked in my matchup. I need LT to get about 5 touchdowns today.
Walters TD! Yeah baby!
Just because he throws to my man Ward, doesn’t make him smart. I never liked him, even when I lived in PGH. He is a egotistical jerkoff. Plus, he rides his motercycle without a helmet, and I think he’s cross-eyed now.
What happened to Brees in the last half hour or so? He doubled his points.
He heard me crying, Sunshine…
ms.conduct — I had Drew Brees on my fantasy team last year. The first month or so was terrible, but he definitely got better with time. So he has the ability to do well for your team.
AustinTX can we leave the “R” word off here please? No room for gingoism crap like that, especially when friends with mentally challenged kid struggles with bigots and bias crap like that every day.
And the KHL isn’t a “Russian” league, a few other countries involved.
Rant over.
Seriously Claire… No offense to you or anyone you know that happens to be “mentally challenged”. but I hate people that are all about being “PC” so I might say it again at some point… no offense meant by it.
BTW, it’s Jingoism… and it means: “Extreme nationalism characterized especially by a belligerent foreign policy”
So, I dunno what you were going for there.
You are correct. The KHL is not technically a “Russian” league. We also technically have a multi-national force is Iraq.
There are three teams outside of Russia. That’s almost like saying the NBA isn’t an American league because of the Raptors.
I’m not trying to be a smart a$$. I’m just saying. The league is mainly Russian teams, run by Russians, owned by Russians, headquartered in Russia… If it looks like a duck, and sounds like a duck…
And how in the hell do the Vikings rank being the opening night game on ESPN?
Hmmm… just a word for all of you. I am a strongly disloyal football fan. I hate college football, not because it is inherently bad, just because it takes up all of the sports air time, and the games take 6 hours to play.
NFL level, eh. i really wish I liked football more, but I just can’t muster it.
Continue discussing football though. Won’t hurt me, or my feelings (because I know how much you all were worried about that).
Feeling better today. My brother-in-law brought the kids up and we went to the Twins game. They lost, but I got to have the fun of watching the nephy and niece bounce around after inhaling an entire bag of cotton candy. Made everything feel better.
Oddly, I’m relieved I didn’t get the job. The site it was at is such a boys club, and while normally not a problem for me (it seems like I’ve always been ‘one of the boys’) I really was starting to wonder if I would get them to listen to my ideas or not. I should be fine through Christmas, my p.t.j. gets über busy starting the end of October through the first weekend of January. That and my boss there really likes me so calls me first when extra shifts become available. I need to feed my dogs, and then myself and the Mr, later!
Sorry about the job BG. I hate job seeking. Just under moving (as in from house to house) on my list of things I hate to do.
I recently just took the first p.t.j I have ever had. Always worked full time. Never thought pt would cut it. Now, with daycare and such, it makes more sense to work pt and watch the kids in the am. I actually bring home more money now than I did working ft and paying a sitter.
Something is out there for you. You know it is.
Thanks Buddha.
This is why I love Russoville, it the love in the air. You all make me feel like I’m good enough, I’m smart enough, and gosh darn it. People like me. It also helped that I watched several Boogie fights on You Tube and put the face of the decision maker on the guy getting his arse handed to him by the Boogeyman.
Not football or hockey but tennis. Andy Murray could be the first British man to win the U.S. Open since 1936 if he beats Federer tomorrow in the Final. Today, he beat #1 ranked Nadal.
It was pretty exciting tennis because Nadal looked like he was on his way to winning his third Grand Slam. He won the French Open and Wimbledon. He also won gold at the Olympics.
Hey KiPA, I think I should have taken you up on that trade offer with Brady. Looks like he might be out for the season…. there goes my season.
BG-
Maybe you should run for Senate…
Or mayor.
Kaz…The Russian league and the Russian government are one in the same. Well kind of, Putin lets President Medvedev smile for the cameras when it comes to politics and foreign policy, but when it comes to hockey “el presidente’” actually gets to call the shots.
I wander what the NHL would look like if “w” kicked Bettman out and started running the league out of the den back in Austin, or better yet the oval office!
Ug… no hockey anywhere on my tv. Maybe I should start the all hockey all the time channel.
The KHL should be playing right now, why can;t I watch that?
September 07
Wild tough enough ?
The Wild wont say what direction they are taking this club but if we study movement of the organization it would suggest that the team thinks that it needs 3 guys whom can play tough and fight. Last year they started with one enforcer and ended up with 3 when they added Fedoruk and Simon. Without a doubt if the Wild did not play Calgary their would not have been a need to sign those two. Mister Know It All
This year the Wild have Boogy-Weller-Nolan and you could say Kassiam but that could be a tad bit over kill as they are probably letting him be groomed. So is it safe to say that the Wild have the toughness now ?? Every year including last toughness has been a question with this team
Mister Know it All believes the Wild will be tough enough this year and I like what they have done to spruce up the teams skating skilled players by adding Zidlicky and Bergeron to the D . You give up a couple of roster spots for the thugs at forward and you get it back on the D
Mister Know It All likey
Hoo boy. 2.5 hours of hockey, 6 periods, and only 2 offensive lines. Can you say tired and, tomorrow, sore? I know I can. Treated myself to a little packet of powdered donuts. And Advil.
Sorry about Brady, ATX. That stinks.
Yeah MKia…we all saw how toughness = goals last year.
kj skeptical (yeah, I know Green*…so what else is new)… ![]()
kj skeptical
I never thought toughness = goals. I’ve said many times that our rush to be like the ducks has gotten the Wild off the road to being an elite team in the NHL.
Band, sorry about not getting the job.
Must be football talk above, I don’t recognize any of the names. Plus that score (3:21) seems a little unlikely for a hockey game.
One would think if MKiA did indeed KiA, he wouldn’t misspell players’ names. Kassiam???
Toughness - I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again. Having the biggest, badest enforcer will not make one a ‘tough’ team. The only way to really be a ‘tough’ team is for most if not all the players to play ‘tough’. As long as we have many forwards and D who shy away from hitting and ‘tough’ play, we will be seen as a team lacking toughness.
Powdered donuts - I get that they are dusted with powdered sugar, but the donut itself is ‘regular’ and not itself a powder. It isn’t like powdered drink mix, powdered milk, etc.; why then are they called ‘powdered donuts’ and not ‘powdered sugar donuts’? Methinks that truly ‘powdered donuts’ would be a little gritty and not that satisfying.
this episode of Goody’s Deep Thoughts has been brought to you by Tim Horton’s.
Actually, brought to you by Goody’s 11 week old son who kept Goody up late and woke Goody up early. Goody gets a little ‘punchy’ when running a sleep deficit. Though, it should be known that breakfast at Tim Horton’s would be quite nice at this point.
*Plus that score (3:21) seems a little unlikely for a hockey game.*
I dunno, Goody. Have you read Mirtle today? http://mirtle.blogspot.com/2008/09/82-0.html
As crumbly as my powdered donuts were (and whoever made them, my dog thanks you for the powdery donuty aftermath that he spent 10 minutes licking up), they really almost were powdered donuts.
LOL NiNY… Mmm, speaking of which, time for coffee. Might even go leaded today, I’m dragging so bad, but feeling very low on the anxiety scale…
My word, 82-0? That’s not very sportsmen-like.
or sportswomen-like, for that matter, I50
Rather my unspoken point, as it were. ![]()
I certainly hope with a score of 82-0 that every player on the winning team (except maybe the goalies) scored.
So I think I managed to convince my niece that Joe Mauer should be her favorite baseball player. She’s only 5, it’s ok to push her in a particular direction right? For a while she just had fun learning to pronounce some of the weirder names. I can’t wait to teach her that R.O.Y. is pronounced Wah.
I imagine it was like my novice team against the Red Wings. It’s worth a look at the box scores.
http://stats.iihf.com/Hydra/166/IHW166907_74_4_0.pdf
Especially the goalie stats. Not only did BUL not score, they didn’t even get any shots on goal. And the losing goalie saw 134 shots and stopped 57 of them.
Honestly, to me that 0 SOG is more profound than the 82 GA.
Nick, somehow I’d missed your Wild blogosphere podcasts until now. Fun stuff, even though it’s from several months ago. Nice to put voices to the writing. ![]()
I’m suprised how few penalties there were. In my experience when a game gets out of hand, the penalties really start piling up. Only one of BUL’s players had more than 2 penalties and only 7 players were penalized. Of course one of those 7 racked up an impressive 25 PIM.
Goody: you can’t slash/trip/hook/high stick/spear/board/charge what you can’t catch.
Yeah, that’s why I looked at the box scores in the first place. Just knowing how *I* get when I can’t catch the effenheimer in front of me and really really want to stick my stick in front of him, I figured the PIM was probably off the charts. There were the match penalties at the end of the game, but really, nothing crazy excessive given the situation. I guess they don’t fight in international chick hockey.
hey Lemmiwinks, if you are out there… you need to text me again… I lost your number again.
NiNY, Oh yes you can! Not that I would know anything about that…:)
While we’re talking penalties: Anyone have the latest issue of USA Hockey magazine? In there is a bit about checking. It is kind of a ‘how-to’ piece. In it, it refers to the opponent (check reciever) and says something like “…his or her body…” I was under the impression that body checking in Women’s hockey was illegal. In writing that, aren’t they encouraging body checking a female opponent?
My smiley no worky.
That time?
Goody, checking isn’t allowed in girls hockey. But that doesn’t mean it doesn’t happen. One of my friends in high school had a little sister who was the first girl to earn a penalty for our brand new girls hockey team, it was for checking. She was so proud of her penalty minutes that season. And before anyone asks no I wasn’t on the team. It was my senior year and by then I could barely skate because of injuries from other things to my knees, it just hurt to much and my knees would swell up, not a pretty sight. Hehe… doggy snoring.
Oh, I know it happens, just like holding, hooking, tripping, etc happen in boys games. I’m just wondering if we should be teaching checking to those not allowed to do so? Do we teach the boys how to hook, hold and trip?
I don’t really seriously have an issue with the article. I just thought it funny that in this instance using ‘his’ only would have been acceptable and not mysogynistic as body checking is illegal in the girls game and as such the target of the article would be boys - no need to say ‘his or her’.
Sometimes you just gotta check the bitch.
Amen Sister C!!!
ms.C…feeling a little ‘puffy’ today??? ![]()
encouraging body checking a female
While I like to hand check a female, one I know of course, I’d encourage body checking as well.
Not in the way you mean, KJ. Just still on a hockey high from last night. Wanna crush some more skulls (by which I mean gently shove or block opposing players to irritate them).
G*, you comment reminds me, I had such a strange face-to-face collision with a guy last night, the ref told us we should be hooking up at a bar later rather than on the ice.
Exactly. Just leaning, ref. Just leaning.
ms.c: you have mail.
Now you have mail! Hey, we’re like poor man’s AOL here!
Wow, the overwhelming need for a nap I’ve been feeling since I got up at 5:30 this morning has finally passed. Should probably take advantage of this and get some work done.
MsC I did take a nap. One minute I was reading the next thing I knew it was an hour later.
Only 33 days till the first game of the regular season. 22 till I get to go to a preseason game. HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY!!!! So close to hockey season yet so so so far away….
So when exactly can we start ordering CI? Don’t you get a discount for signing up early? Last year I didn’t sign up until Jan.
I don’t have mail. I suck.
And technically it’s 26 days til the first regular season game…though I know you meant the Wild’s first. But if you really need a fix, it could come a week sooner.
I’ll watch anybody play hockey at this point.
Lemmi, DTV hasn’t started charging me for CI yet, but it automatically renews and I do believe there is an early bird reduction of 15 cents or something. What service do you have?
My energy burst didn’t last long. Like 15 minutes, and then my work bored me back to sleepy. :\
Ms. C - Comcast. Glad to hear your game went well. Our intramural season starts tonight during the Denver/Oakland game. Moved up from C to B1 because B2 got filled up too fast and playing with the “shooter tutors” sucks.
ATX - are you worse than my best friend who managed to lose 2 phones within 3 days or 4 days? lol text is on its way.
Ms.C,
I checked out the blog today and I agree the goalie situation is a bit scary. I hope Khobi keeps improving and takes over down there but Schafer was a bandaid fix because of the big hole in our goalie prospects.(I won’t diss Brust cause I know you’re a fan) You would have to think that unless some amazing forward or defensemen is available next draft we’ll be taking a goalie first or second round. Then again I thought we needed to add as many defensemen as possible at the 2007 draft and we moved up to draft a hitting machine. Cool with me but it just shows you never know what the hell this club is going to do at the draft table…
You don’t have enough goalies there, Lemmi? Why don’t people want to be goalies? Crazy. Coolest position in sports, right Nick?
Ah, say what you wish about Brusty, Lucky. If I’m right, I’m right. If I’m wrong, then it was still fun watching him play here. God help me, he is full of palm-sweaty goodness in the crease.
But yes, we are on the verge of a goalie crisis. They’ve done an incredible job with the bandaid fix. It worked out better than anybody expected, the way Schaef and Brusty have just really clicked and stoked each others fires. The sum has been greater than its parts, but I hope Brusty sees the obvious chink in the armor of the tandem in Minnesota. He’s only 24, so that’s not exactly old for a goalie. Still prospect aged in my book. I’m just saying. Brusty for Prime Minister, eh.
Have I mentioned lately that I hate being a Vikings fan. guh.
Wow, the GB cheerleaders are so wholesome looking.
You guys are actually watching football? Geeze, we really do need some news out of the hockey world.
Only because my FF opponent has a player from GB and we’re only 10 points apart. Still dunno how it turned out.
NiNY,
You should give the ‘ol bandwagon a try when it comes to the Vikes. I’m riding shot gun if you need a lift. I can only be loyal to one team and I choose the Wild. There’s only so much love to give you know.
OK. A few observations on the day, and then I’m going to bed. I’m glad to see the board picked up on the 82-0 game. Did you all see the follow up blog from deadspin? Great line toward the end… about the backup being put in…
“The third string goalie is a dead raccoon which they lay across the mouth of the goal.”
I about puked I was laughing so hard.
As for the GB cheerleaders being “wholesome”… is that another way of saying they have personality?
Last comment. Vikes are still the Vikes.
Alright. I want some hockey.
Dude. Remind me not to make you laugh too hard if you’re ever in my car…
And re: the cheerleaders, it’s another way of saying they don’t look like they vacated the stripper pole to come to the game. Thought I was watching a college game from 20 years ago for a second there.
Took a benedryl 2 hours ago. Work already!
KiPA:
Your insdepitts guy is posting that O’Sullivan will be accepting a deal worth $18 million over 4 years. To me its kind of high but since we are now paying for future production, it might be more in line with today’s market prices. I think he is worth about $3.5 million but we are living a post July 1 era now.
I think PMB at $20.4 million over 5 years now seems like a great deal. Burns, Schultz, and Koivu’s deals look great. So does Dustin Brown’s contract — $3.175 million for 6 years.
But with Carter getting $15 million for 3 years — I guess LA is getting a deal though Carter was more proven than Sully. He did have 3 solid years.
Eklund says Sully was going to be traded to Toronto.
I don’t think I like the insidepittssports guy anymore. He switched sites and now it seems you’ve got to pay to get most of the stuff, at least the local stuff. I don’t classify him as credible enough to actually pay for it.
I actually haven’t even been checking out his site for the last week or so.
Couple of thoughts to consider:
If Rolston was re-signed, would the Wild still be giving Gaborik a $8.5 million deal?
Is Sully more of a Gaborik/Kopitar (good player on any team) or a Parrish (good player on bad team but okay player on good team)? If so, do these Parrish-type players tend to get paid more because the team needs them and its harder for teams to get FAs in?
I am not picking on Parrish. I got it out of an article and it made sense so I am using the Parrish to represent some of these players. The knock on Bruno was that he was a Parrish-like player until he went to the Avs - Bruno played for the Thrashers, Preds, and Wild (all expansion teams) before going to the Avs. There he was still the same player + so he lost the “Parrish” stigma.
http://insidepittsburghsports.com/story/nhl-osullivan-kings-on-verge-of-4-year-deal/1003/
He’s also saying that the Pats might go after Culpepper, who just retired a couple of days ago. I don’t know if the Pats are that desperate yet.
If that is the case, I might have to pick up Culpepper.
LOL.
Yeah, you got me to check it out again. I guess those kind of “around the league” quick hits maybe aren’t Insider-only.
And i said the last week? I meant the last few days only.. the new site only started Friday.
Buddha… Thursday or Friday. Okay, I’m full on excited now.
Also, DH is suggesting we move to Bulgaria so I can be on the women’s national hockey team. I actually think I could make it. But I don’t wanna be the goalie!
5 days until my wedding on the North Shore.
15 days until the first preseason Wild game.
It is going to be a good month!
You could always suit up as the back-up goaltender. Apparently Bulgaria is slow to pull the starting goalie.
Which North Shore Aaron? and Congrats. Wow, this makes 2 Russoville weddings this month. Isn’t kgophers next weekend? Hope you all have good photog’s that’s the only way I remember what happened the day I got married, the pictures that is.
Congratulations Aaron!
No kidding BG. What a blur. Fantastic blur but a blur none the less. And we only found our photog the week before. Danish friend of a friend who was in the country and is a photojournalist. Paid her $250 plus x-amount per photo we had her print. I think she hated us by the end, it was so much more work than she expected. Normally she was going to places like Afghanistan and shooting devastation.
Bandgeek, mine is on Saturday. So that is 2 Russoville weddings this weekend
Our photog is a friend of ours so we get rehearsal and everything captured for us.
Buddha, invest in NHL Network if your cable company gets it, it is all hockey all day and you get to see some vintage and classic games during the summer. You could re-watch the playoffs for a while too.
I am so looking forward to hockey season.
The Mr and I got married on a Friday so we got a great discount for being on an ‘off’ day. It meant we could afford the double package (2 photog’s one doing the posed stuff while the other did candids).
I have so much to do around the house but the smaller dog won’t let me stand up, I think he finds my lap the most comfortable place in the house. Oh well, like I really want to scrub floors and do laundry. Only problem is he’s had stinky butt lately, the kind that drives people from the room… like now!! DUDE DOG!!! That’s rancid.
Congrats on the weddings.
Thanks sunshine.
Which North Shore? What a silly question, the North Shore of Lake Superior of course!
Just three more days before I board a flight back to God’s Country.
Congratulations Aaron!
I see that Sundin met with the Habs this past Saturday. I would like to see him play in Montreal. I’ve always had a fondness for the Canadiens. Perhaps it is the logo that SCSU is modeled after, perhaps it is because Montreal is neat city and perhaps it is the passionate fan base. Either way, I’m pulling for them if the Wild can’t get it done.
I would love to make the road trip to Montreal to see the Wild play there. Seeing the Wild play in Ottawa during their Winter Carnvial would be an awesome trip as well - skate the Rideau Canal before the game!
What is your dream road trip destination?
Thanks for the congrats all! Congrats to you as well kgopher.
The reason I asked is because when the Mr and I honeymooned on the North Shore, people kept thinking we had gone to Hawaii. Silly people. See I naturally think North Shore of Lake Superior, but some people don’t and with you being in Houston I just wanted to make sure. I’m babbling because I don’t want to clean the bathroom.
OK. Off topic question. How many people are there out there that have structured settlements or annuities? You would think there were millions out there will all these commercials saying get your cahs now… How do I get a structured settlement? Sue Bulgaria for defacing the name of my favorite sport?
Next question. How many people travel to Europe so often that having cell phone service in Paris is really that important? AT&T / Cingular seem to think it is the most critical thing to buying a cell phone. Just doesn’t seem to be the greatest use of ad dollars. Ah well.
Just had to get that out of my head. Back to hockey.
Dream road trip?….. Montreal or Ottawa.
AiH-
Dream road trip huh? I’m thinking of multiple games, following the Wild on a West coast leg. A trip, not to Cali, but Through Edmonton, Calgary, Vancouver, maybe finish in Denver… I think that would be a blast. Could you imagine being at the SaddleDump in a Wild jersey?
Although Montreal would be fun. French speakers everywhere, I could try to muster my high school French to ask for beer and a pretzel… Toronto would be cool too, could stop at the HoF.
Budda,
My phone working in Paris is unimportant to me.
Can we agree that more bars (alcohol serving establishments, not phone reception)in more places is always good?
Buddha,
Apparently spelling others’ names properly is also unimportant to me - sorry.
Goody-
More bars in more places. I’m with you. 100%.
No worries on spelling the name wrong, it’s not really my name, and the Buddha is all about forgiveness.
Agreed on the bars, Goody.
Sadly only my high school spanish comes out in Montreal which does me very little good. Habla ingles?
I think my primo hockey road trip would be Calgary, Vancouver and then down the west coast for Anaheim, Kings, and then Phoenix, Dallas, and home.
Rocky Mountains to the Pacific Ocean to the stinking Gulf of Mexico. Huzzah!
I personally want to go to Alaska but if we are talking hockey road trips I agree that I think an Edmonton, Vancouver, Calgary, Denver trip would be awesome.
Thanks Aaron.
Buddha, have to agree about Toronto. A Christmas time game in Toronto would be cool. Why? Because then you could go to the HoF and get your picture taken with Santa AND the Stanley Cup. But I said Montreal because the Habs are my ‘East Boys’. And Ottawa because I hate the Leafs but Ottawa is cool. Although if I felt the need to go to one of the warmer climate games, I’d pick Dallas. Then I could talk MsC and Austin and his wife and Aaron into coming and it’d be one big cool Russoville get-together in the south.
I’m in, BG!
I’m planning to make the game in Dallas this March.
I agree with those who think a Edmonton and Calgary trip would be fun. I think Vancouver might deserve its own trip. In general we seem to agree Canada is hockey road trip heaven.
As for the Pacific I’m probably only interested in seeing a game at the Shark Tank.
Oh, I knew I was forgetting someone on the Pacific. Yep, throw them in my list. Oh and Edmonton. Okay, I suck at geography and using my brain today.
Well kgopher - you could always make a WCHA road trip to Anchorage. Team it up with the start of the Iditarod and it could be a good trip.
But I recommend saving an Alaska trip for June or July. The extended daylight makes it so convenient for exploring.
Don’t know if anyone posted this before or not but Quick Facts just Twittered that Adrian Foster is on tryout with Red Bulls Salzburg.
Would also rather enjoy going to see the Aeros. In Houston would be the top of the list, but would settle for a trip to Iowa, Wisconsin, or Chi-town. Get a first hand look at the future of the Wild. Back in the lock out season, they brought the Aeros up to the X.
It was cool, because Boogey was still with them, Veillieux, they had Butch down there for the season… tons of guys. I may be remembering wrong, but I think Mikko was still with Houston too. Well… whoever was there, it was really cool. Would love to see them bring them back up here for a game.
Nice find Claire - please see Ms. C for your candy bar.
Ahhh, thank you Claire! I’m telling you, I’m on my blog BEGGING these people from Japan and Australia to tell me, even privately, what the hell their interest in Fozzie is and I’m getting nothing but crickets chirping. Someone even searched “ms conduct adrian foster” so now I think someone’s just f’king with me.
Buddha, come on down! I think Burns was with the team that season, wasn’t he? The Aeros practice rink still has a picture of Mikko on the boards. Kinda weird. Oh, I get to go there in just a couple of weeks and see the boys practice! I cannot tell you the kind of glee that fills me with.
Oh that’s right. Candy bar for Claire! What’s your pleasure?
Buddha: You are correct. It was during the lockout year and the Wild brought the Aeros to the X. Koivu, SRV, Burns, PMB, and Boogie were with the Aeros that year.
I have Sprint but for those AT&T/Verizon folks, you can buy SIM cards and switch it on your American phone. When I was traveling in SE Asia, that was recommended to me. So it is worth it. The SIM cards gave you a local number and then you buy a calling card to use. I ended borrowing a friend’s old phone and used while traveling.
Aaron-my chief reason for the Alaska trip would be to volunteer at the Sea Life rehab center in Seward (spelling) i think it is while I am there. One of my college classmates is the head vet tech there and I think it would be totally awesome to work on the sea life that they rehab there.
kgopher - that sounds awesome! I visited the Sea Life Center, it was great. I really like the Puffin exhibit. Seward is such a neat little town.

I didn’t break the news, just saw the Tweet. But I like Toblerone.
