Williams out four to six months in Carolina; Could Parrish be the answer for the Canes?

Unfortunate news out of Raleigh, where the Hurricanes announced today that winger Justin Williams ruptured his Achilles tendon while skating in a pre-training camp skate. Williams, a key cog to the Canes’ Stanley Cup championship team in 2006, missed a ton of last season, too, with a torn ACL.
If the Canes are looking for a veteran replacement, Mark Parrish could be the answer. With Parrish still unemployed as NHL training camps begin Friday and Saturday, you can bet his reps will be on the horn with GM Jim Rutherford.
Three things to keep in mind that could work in Parrish’s favor:
1. Parrish played for Peter Laviolette with the Islanders.
2. He could be reunited with his St. Cloud State linemate Matt Cullen.
3. He’s very familiar with the East, especially the Southeast, after beginning his career with Florida.
I think the Wild ended with a 3-2 win over Detroit today. The Wild will announce tomorrow which prospects have been promoted to main camp.
Update: Colton Gillies didn’t play against Detroit due to swelling in his ankle after blocking a shot earlier in the tournament. Thursday update: Tom Lynn says it’s just a bruise and he’ll skate once it recedes.
Training camp is 2 days away!
