It's funny you should say that Hockeydad. Whether you are a fan or not maybe it is time for #10 to move on. A change of seen may be just what he needs. It can be interpreted many ways and God knows it has on this blog. But I think the bottom line with Gaborik is he needs a change and is not happy in MN. I think it shows in his play. Maybe it's not laziness but boredom.

he said Gaby will do what’s best for his career

I take that to mean Gabby wants to go to FA and play for whoever offers him the most money. I don't think it's got much of anything to do with whether or not he wants to play for the Wild. Hence the 'I'll play here if they give me what I want' comment. Salcer's got him convinced there's a pot of gold at the end of the FA rainbow. If he wants to do that, that's fine, but on the other hand, I haven't seen any reason to fault DR in what he's done so far regarding Gabby either.

I say trade Gaby now. Don't let us get enthusiastic with his play and rely on his scoring into the season. Lets move on and get something. I think the team would do better building any chemistry without him than waiting till trade deadline and trading him for some new guys. By the way, where is the info coming from regarding potential personnel coming back? "word has it" means nobody knows anything...just wishing

Yeah, on re-reading it I see what you mean, though I think it can be interpreted a lot of ways. It doesn't seem like it's any secret that the team make-up was an issue for him and apparently continues to be. I just wish Ecklund was right and this was going to go away soon. But since it's Ecklund, the opposite is going to happen since he's never been right about anything, AFAIK.

I don't think AV is bitter as much as realistic. I think he's been around the block enough to have seen the ugly side of contract negotiations and stuff. But in every interview I've seen, he's nothing but glowing about both the Devils organization and the Wild, so I don't get the feeling he's personally bitter (though in print, I could see that statement being interpreted that way).
