If Sundin signs for $10M with the Canucks then no Gaby to Vancouver. That offer is supposedly still on the table for Mats.

I could see Gaby playing in Edmonton if he hits July 1st. I have no doubt Edmonton or Vancouver will offer him his $10M a year. However I don’t think Risebrough would be dumb enough to take on overpaid Penner in a trade. It would sting to get a bad return like a handful of prospects that never make it to the NHL or low draft picks but to take on Penner’s overpaid contract that would be Kevin McHale like.

It depends on what Gaborik is after. We all assume he is looking for the most money, but there has also been talk he wants to go to LA, or to a place with a bigger media presence. He may even try to pull a Hossa, and go to the Cup champs, whoever they may be.

The problem is no one except Gaborik and his agent really know what he wants, and I don’t think we will until he signs a new contract.

You would have to think Gaby would play for EDM if they go beyond the contract he wants on July 1.

We are not forgetting that Burns is behind. Burns will be fine this year but it is ok to point out mistakes and last night’s were pretty egregious.

apologies upfront if this was already covered, just gleened through an article on yet another sell out at the Xcel… and noted coverage by NHL writers Russo, Shipley and Sid Hartman. Yikes. Read and puke. I couldn’t- didn’t have lunch yet. Somehow my appetite is gone.
