Saturday’s game at Phoenix; Burns injured during warmups

Defenseman Brent Burns was a late scratch. He was hurt during Saturday night’s warmups. The Wild is calling it an “upper body” injury and he should be ready for Tuesday’s game in San Jose. Tomas Mojzis, who didn’t skate warmups, played. Erik Reitz was always in.
I didn’t see it, but it was probably a puck up high.
Something weird. Mojzis is MIA. I don’t know when he could have gotten hurt, but the Wild is saying he has an “upper body” injury. His last shift in the first was when he took the high-sticking penalty that led to the goal.
Good evening from Glendale.
Wild and Coyotes are currently skating warmups, and agitator Daniel Carcillo is busy getting as close to the Wild’s side of the ice as possible. He’s already had a few words with Brent Burns, but maybe they just know each other.
Craig Weller, the former Coyotes signed by the Wild, is scratched in his homecoming. Derek Boogaard, scratched against Montreal, is back in considering Phoenix is full of bulk and fighters, including Todd Fedoruk. Although, it looks like the Coyotes’ biggest fighter, Brian McGrattan, is scratched.
Tonight will be a special game for Kyle Turris and Colton Gillies. I wrote about this for Sunday’s paper, but the 19-year-old rookies are best friends having grown up together in the Lower Mainland of Vancouver. Turris’ parents are here for the occasion, and Turris suspects mom and pop will be shedding a tear or two when they see Turris and Gillies on an NHL rink together.
That’s it for now. I’ll be back after.
Forgot to mention yesterday, I ran into Doug Risebrough at the Minneapolis Airport yesterday morning. Had some coffee with the GM, and he was heading to Los Angeles, where he scouting the Ducks and Vancouver yesterday and Flames vs. Kings tonight.
Risebrough goes on scouting trips all year, so don’t jump to conclusions, but the Kings and Canucks are two teams in the Marian Gaborik sweepstakes. Of course, Gaborik remains sidelined as of now.
