I’m with you KiPA, but usually when its two heavyweights, they show the respect, no?

I’m not complaining they didn’t, just curious to me that they didn’t.

I wonder if some guys who would take off the lid think “well I’m not going to reach up to unsnap it and take it off if I think the other guy will pop me in the nose while I’m preoccupied.”

While I would share that sentiment if I thought there was a legit chance of it happening, the PA ought to send a brute squad of former tough guys around to every team in the league saying “okay punks, part of the code in the half-shield era is now that both players take off the pot before the fight starts. Anyone who takes advantage of a guy while he’s taking his off will get his butt kicked by everyone in the league for the rest of his career.”

I dunno. It feels like when the fight happens quickly and organically, it doesn’t feel weird to me that they’re still on. But when they’re dancing for a bit first and it’s clearly a couple of guys who probably were gonna go (as in kinda premeditated, game situation allowing), you gotta ditch the lid.

I don’t really object to them not doing it, but I would think they’d both just want them off anyway so they don’t break their hands.
