Sunday update

Normally with no game until Tuesday and coming off a four-game trip, the Wild would have been given today off. But consecutive losses and an unhappy coach after last night’s game in Columbus forced a 1 p.m. practice down at the X today.

I did not go, however. I performed masterfully, so I gave myself the day off.

I did write a notebook on the planeride home for tomorrow’s paper.

Update from practice is everybody skated except for Marc-Andre Bergeron and Derek Boogaard. Kurtis Foster practiced, as did Owen Nolan, which is notable because he was limping very badly after last night’s game.

That’s it from here. Lame update, I know, but I’m watching the Giants and Eagles with very heavy eyes. I hope I last ’til the game’s over.

Today’s Brian Stensaas’ birthday. As a gift, I’m graciously giving him practice tomorrow. Happy birthday my friend.

As the pilots’ say, Good Day.
