Wild to unveil 3rd jersey at State Fair on August 30; 3 game time changes

The Wild will introduce its new third jersey on Sunday, Aug. 30 at 12:30 p.m. at the Minnesota State Fair’s FAN Central building.
Minnesota’s new third jersey will be unveiled on stage in front of the FAN Central building starting at 12:30 p.m. The event will feature left wing/part-time model Derek Boogaard and Nordy. The Wild’s State Fair booth will be located in the new FAN Central building this year at the intersection of Dan Patch Avenue and Underwood Street.
The Wild’s scheduled to wear its new third jerseys for the first time on Wednesday, Oct. 21 against the Colorado Avalanche.
Fans can be the first to pre-order the new Minnesota Wild third jersey starting Aug. 30 at the Wild booth at the Minnesota State Fair and at the Hockey Lodge stores located at the Xcel Energy Center and Mall of America. Fans that pre-order the new third jersey will be able to pick it up Oct. 21 at either location. From Oct. 21-26, the Hockey Lodge stores will also be the only Twin Cities locations that fans can purchase the new third jerseys.

If you want to see the Wild’s 77-game TV schedule, go to wild.com. The team will be televised on VERSUS seven times. Also, these games changed to 7 p.m. to accomodate the telecast: Oct. 26 at Chicago, Jan. 5 at Chicago and Feb. 2 at Dallas

Glad we are getting a 3rd. Will be cool to see what it looks like but will have to wait since I know I won’t be at the state fair that day. Will have to dig up pictures.

Now I’m confused. I thought I read they did away with the green one because the NHL said teams had to drop back to just 2 uniforms and now they can do three again?
Teams started going to 3 last season. Wild just didn’t do one, until now.
Fargo, nearly half the teams in the NHL had 3rd jerseys last year. Teams were only allowed to have two jerseys the first year the new RBK template was issued.
I did notice a couple of teams with an odd sweater last year, but thought they were special occasions like throw back situations.

Assuming the our new sweater isn’t something awful like the “Sens” or “Bolts” type jersey, the Wild should pocket some serious coin.

Actually, I think a nice new design would be a clean, solid color, either the gold or green, and a simplified logo. No striping, piping, shoulder patches or anything, just a simplified logo on the front and name and number on the back.
I am with El Gato- Put the new Jersey on Nordy and Boogy and let Boogy dent Nordy in his head with several haymakers.
I would suggest chicken blood be planted in Nordy’s head so every time he hits his head a chicken blood capsule erupts all over his big ugly head !
I would suggest the creator of the Nordy creature be present, and that is of course Craig Leopold. Of course I would suggest filming it and placing it on youtube for everyone in the world to see

Ahhhh… the smell of fresh thread in the afternoon. I gave up on the old one a few days ago, it was giving me a headache trying to keep up.
I hope the new sweater isn’t just a revamp of the old Green. I won’t be buying a new third anyway, hate the way the fabric feels, it feels cheeply made.

It’s going to be a ‘tribute’ style 3rd jersey. It will look like the North Stars road jersey circa 1989 but with Wild logo.

I disagree with BG and The Wife. I perfer the IRR style sweater. I like the matte finish of the IRR. I want the 3rd to be either green or wheat matte.

The style isn’t the issue for me ATX, it’s that I feel like my 9 year old nephew could rip it in half if given half a chance. It’s the fabric not the design.

In more important news, looks like the Wild have 7 US broadcasts (0 NBC broadcasts and a couple of which are TSN/CBC simulcasts) and 4 more TSN/CBC only broadcasts. IIRC, that’s down a bit from last year.

Right now there are zero teams with green as the dominant color. We lost that uniqueness when the league made the switch to RBK. We then became yet another team with a red jersey–I think there were something ridiculous like 14 teams with a red-dominant jersey, IIRC.

ATX didn’t work. Checked and saw new thread and felt compelled to jump in. For 3rd jersey, I am picturing a metallic emerald material…a little out there, maybe, but isn’t that the fun of the 3rd option and speculation.

Regardless of the color scheme, if the Wild 3rd jersey has “Minnesota” or simply “Wild” in some stupid font running diagonally across the front, it will be ugly in my opinion. I’m imaging what Tampa did; fugly. Obviously, the red jerseys are the bomb as St. Louis copied them and they became the “it” thing (according to the only 2 Blues fans I know).
Of course, there’s five games they are NOT televising…

Yes although there was no home or away TV for a Wild v. Yotes game last October. With you on the preseason game, one away game per preseason would be nice.

I like the new third jersey. But then again, I’ve always maintained why have ‘Minnesota’ or ‘Wild’ on the front when you can have the image of Modano instead. And the powder blue with white trim really brings out the color of Mo’s eyes. He has to come home now.

Wow, weeks have passed and Fletcher has done NOTHING more to improve the team. I know it is preseason and the koolaid drinkers are out in full force, but what makes anyone believe this team is that much better than last years? My predictions…first round playoff loss or missing the playoffs yet again. Also known as…MORE OF THE SAME!!!

Well the Twins HD games on FSN seem to have picked up a lot this year so I hope for the same for the Wild. Since 45 does not have an HD outlet I assume we are going to have to put up with more of the same deep space transmissions for another year 
- Pewterschmidt - the Wolves got a preseason game on last year so there is always hope a Wild presason game is shown at some point.

Number 2: If you VALUE pro hockey in Minnesota like Mister Know it all. Why from an entertainment point of view would I not be interested in Modano coming back to Minnesota ?? I dont value hockey cards or hockey jerseys and autographs, as Mister Know it all has none of those things. I don’t know the color of Modanos eyes even.
He was drafted when I was a kid as a number 1 overall draft pick on the Minnesota pro team Evil. Now he plays in Dallas, but he started his career in Minnesota

I mean, if it weren’t for 20 Cent and the Phoenix disaster, there’d be absolutely nothing to report.
difference being that DR fed that to us, and Fletch hasn’t tried to so far. That may be semantics, but it’s still salient.
For better or for worse, Fletch is going to get some additional breaks from us just for not acting like DR did.

Xcel: I didn’t used to like the red jersey. However, nothing could be more simple, plain, and unattractive as “Wild” written in a stupid font on a dark green jersey (I like green for the record); even if the writing is big instead of very small, or puny. I’ve heard the red jerseys are one of the NHL’s top selling jerseys. (I gave in myself). St. Louis basically copied the circle logo and I’ve been told their jerseys sell well.
Go4it: What expectations did you harbor coming into this season? DR left the team in a bad spot. It is too early to judge, and I can’t drink kool-aid because of the sugar. However, I won’t be sour until I see what Fletch and the Gang are going to do this season and the next. If we play too conservative in the future, I’ll be right there with you. Until then, let the new coach, new GM, new system, new players, etc., start working.
We definitely need a center. However, we don’t need a “lets live in my dream world filled with nostalgia of my childhood” kind of player at this point. We aren’t any better on paper this year and said old dude will not change that.
