Wild third jersey leaked

The third jersey being leaked has probably already been a talker on the below post, but I was at the doctor getting my dry sockets packed with the most disgusting tasting medicated pads you can ever imagine. 
The third jersey was unearthed by the web site icethetics.info at this link. Brent Burns and Derek Boogaard can be seen modeling the new third jersey. It was apparently found on the Wild’s redesigned web site (built by the NHL), which is due to be launched Sunday.
In other news, TSN.ca is reporting that Director of Officiating Stephen Walkom is stepping down to make an on-ice ref comeback. That’s good news for the quality of officiating. Walkom was one of the best refs in the league before he took on the new role.
Also, TSN’s also reporting that Philly’s Simon Gagne has been injured on Day One of Canada’s Olympic orientation camp and is not expected to return to the ice today.

My vote on the jersey is a resounding…..just fine.
I like the green. Looks a bit collegiate.
I look forward to the wheat colored jersey with some variation of the Ambiguous Wild Beast on the front (and no I’m not referring to Nordy)

Just curious, if that site is showing our new NHL.com page, why does it say “All Star Game” next to Boogaard?
Mmmmm… my Boogie and Burnzie look good in green. It could be worse, it does look a bit like the All star sweaters from the year it was here.

Lucky, I’m pretty sure they’re just showing off various patches the wild have worn. They also have the “Year Five” patch under Burnsie.

i like it the 3rd. could have been much much worse. I also believe we will never see a wheat colored jersey unless it is more like the sick yellow the canucks wore once. just too close to the road whites the visitors wear.

One additional comment- Modano will be look nice in that new uni- My prediction is that he will play for the Wild at some point in the next 14 months. It may remind fans when he was skating for the last pro team in Minnesota when he wears it.
Maybe they’ll grow on us, like fungus, which is what they look like.

People like you that have nothing better to do than kill a good marketing scheme deserve to have your wisdom teeth pulled out stone cold sober, why don’t you get a real job and find something better to do then follow around a team insider that could give two #$@%! about you anyway and then speculate on what little they will tell you just to get you to shut the hell up and go away.
This strikes me as somewhere between collegiate and simple and boring. Yeah, it’s sorta retro-ish. But it looks like something you’d see a version of in a “history of MN hockey” book. I’d've preferred something fitting the sum of these descriptors: classy, classic, cool, & still modern.
I was hoping for more but expecting something like this. Hopefully it’ll look better on the ice than in the pics.

That’s weird. We’re flying up to MN to go to the Fair, the jerseys were to be unveiled before we get there, and I’m still looking forward to going. So strange, as apparently there is now nothing to look forward to….

M 03 — there are way too many things about the Fair to be excited about to list. Your list is just a jumping off point. I guess it could be summed up with “it’s an entire day of doing all of my favorite things — eating, drinking, and hanging out in not-100-degree-heat.”
Correction — Nordy is not something to look forward too. Unless someone is kicking his a$$.

Plus, it wasn’t Russo that leaked the jersey.. it was the folks over at istethetics (or whatever it’s called). My advice to you ‘pssed off’ is to Chill Out.
Anything is better than the red sweaters they wear now. They are the worst uniforms in all of sports. Circa 1970 Astros included.
Not even remotely impressed. The original green jersey is still my favorite jersey of theirs. This just seems like they just quickly threw something together just to have it. It really doesn’t do anything for me.
Oh well, pre-season starts in less than a month.

Not to mention the Golden Seals and countless others. I actually like the IRR best. I am not a fan of the original whites and greens. The two newer styles are way better.

IMO, the best hockey jerseys are the classic designs with slight quirks to them, so these: I like ‘em. Sort of reminds me of the old Cake Eaters jerseys from the Ikola era. Or Roseau or H-M. Would it be so bad if their thirds seem to be inspired by some of the great HS hockey powerhouses?

I think these are great. Understated and perfect. Nice throwback cursive type, reminiscient of some small town bar league jerseys.
I am sooo sick of black jerseys. Glad they didn’t do that. Like the green but that’s about it. However, as long as it’s not black I am happy.

Niveous, 4 out of the top 5 are red on that list. That’s crazy. I would like the Wild to step up with something really out there next time around. Or they could just make a Wheat version of this new 3rd sweater… I would LOVE that.

Nice looking jersey. If I didn’t already own four different jerseys, I’d probably pick one up. But the retro look is nice, a lot better than most of the modern-styled sweaters, most of which look like some designer played pin-the-clip-art-on-the-sweater and have a stylish shelf life of about six days. A classic look like these new sweaters will stick.

What a bunch of Debbie Downers. I have beent waiting years for a new Wild jersey and happened to really like this one. I know I will be buying one ASAP, as will 10’s of 1,000’s of other Wild faithful. I will take understated and classic over the roller-hockey gong shows being unveiled by other teams. The star across the top of Minnesota that dots the “i” is awesome. We need to figure out a way to buy back the rights to the Northstar uni’s and wear those gems on Sundays. IMHO

Correct me if I’m wrong, but don’t both parties have to want a contract for it to happen? As in, we may want NHL on ESPN, but I’m pretty sure ESPN doesn’t give a crap about the NHL.

The Wild should ditch that red jersey (there are ONLY seven other red jerseys in the NHL), and use this as their home jersey from here on out. Be unique.

ESPN did not care about the NHL. When did they show games? In between old college hoops re-runs? I know it isn’t the most popular channel but VS actually covers the NHL.
I think it’s hilarious that people are fired up over a third jersey. It’s a jersey that will be occasionally worn by the players at home games. You don’t have to buy them if you don’t like them and guess what? If people don’t like them and don’t buy them, they will be gone. IMO it’s not a bad design. You’d rather have something like Ottawa’s “SENS” or Tampa Bays “BOLTS”?
Overall, I like it. I don’t like the script in “Minnesota” but, correct me if I’m wrong, isn’t the I dotted with a star?? Perhaps a shout out to the old North Stars sweaters??

This topic is one of our most repetitive. As many have said repeatedly–ESPN didn’t and doesn’t want us. VS at least showcases hockey. It was the best he could do.

I remember the day the wild chose the irr jerseys, there was a poll that asked which jersey they should have chose, and the vote was split almost in half….

I have a white road jersey that used to be a home jersey. It’s all about revenue.
Only way to sell more merchandise is to keep messin with the designs.
p.s. of course espn has interest in hockey…..not as much as it should be, but they do.
they certainly would like to have something in the winter on espn 2…..and there certainly is more appeal in the nhl than say…the wnba, or poker, or strong man competitions…….and they do have a couple of decent hockey personalities there….
that being said…. vs. paid more…..and proved they wanted it more…….espn tried to low ball the nhl, and the nhl said thanks but no thanks…..so we are stuck with the chanel no one has
I guarantee you espn will come a knockin’ once the deal runs out…..but who knows if they will give a fair deal, or if we will be stuck again.
If I here one more person say we need a black sweater I may puke. There is no black anywhere in any wild logo or jersey. I like the jersey as it looks much like the high school jerseys with such deep tradition. They will look really sharp on the ice just like the All Star Jerseys did when the game was at the X. Do you think they will wear a different glove though for the green sweater with no red on the glove? The red looks a little out of place with those jeresesy IMO.

And I don’t think there is anything to look into with the star dotting the I in Minnesota. It is the exact same star that is on the original wild logo as its the star and the eye.

I think you’re right Rick. The problem was at the last minute MKVN hacked into the new Wild website and superimposed you know whos head on that jersey. The web site designer didn’t have enough time to get the original pic of Burnsie back up, so he just superimposed his head shot.
I give the jersey a B. Why? You ask. O.k., so maybe no one asked. And that’s my point. It’s a third jersey, people. Relax.

It looks like a green version of the gophers jersey. Yuck!! I like the green, but I don’t like all the stripes on the sleeves. Go back to the original green jersey and make the red/green the 3rd jersey again. Or better yet, change the logo on the home uniform. I hate that circle!!

A little disappointing… I hope they go with black jerseys like Dallas did sometime in the future. Its time for a change! Plus black makes you appear faster!

Like the colors, the very limited amount of red, the number and lettering styles (same as on the IRR jerseys). Not too crazy about the spell-out crest, however. Would look much better with the Wild crest head logo intead of “Minnesota Wild” in block letter script.

I think I like them. Not sure about the red lettering for Wild but I do like them. The red sweater is still my favorite, this one is probably second, and the original white one and green one are tied for 3rd.

Overall a very bland jersey. Did they pay someone to come up with this? The 2004 all star jersey with a baseball style font, not even a logo? I’ll give it one thing, it does have some classic appeal but comes off as very high school.
I like our third jersey. It’s a lot better than Ottawa and Tampa Bay’s thirds. Anyways, here’s what we could have ended up with:

I knew back in June (crystal ball) that the jersey was basically all green. But i forgot to post that. Sorry!
still more concerned with who will be wearing the sweater than what they bleepin look like. bleep; hot pink with a touch of mauve would be fine with me if it would bring us a @#%$#* cup!
I don’t like the baseball font, but they’re not bad otherwise. I just hope they don’t wear the white home helmets with them.
I like the jersey but it should of had a little less green and more wheat maybe just switch the color’s so it’s wheat with green trim.
For anyone interested what it might look like on a light colored background, like you’ll actually see it against 99% of the time. Seriously, who chose that background!? Anyway, I did a quick background change with paint.

I do like the overall look of the jersey. I agree that the logo is a little iffy, but I like the fact that there’s a star used on the ‘I’ of Minnesota. Overall I like it and probably will buy one.

With the amount of money the Wild are saving on the coach and general manager this year and the additional ugly jersey , the Wild cant help but make more money this year.

The Red Ones: I think they look great, but there are so many red jerseys. Someone recently posted there are 7-ish other red jerseys right now. When the league switched to the RBK cut, though, I remember counting like 11 red jerseys. That’s no good.
The same trend is happening with black jerseys. IMO, the only teams that should be allowed to have black jerseys are the Oakland Raiders, New Zealand All Blacks, Imperial Vaders, Mordor Fell Beasts, and Oslo Black Metalers.
Only half the jersey is shown…Number font? Single or double twill #’s? Russo also said the M was more marketable. hard to see from burns angle and boogie covers it, but is the inside of the M trees? For now undecided untill i see the rest.

So my boss is having me work our fair booth. I guess thats all right. It’s hours I wasn’t getting before. We are in the Grandstand this year. I can’t remember where the Wild have their booth. I want to see the new jersey in person, then I’ll make a true decision as to weather I like it or not.
Ok, so Jersey’s throwback, ewww… and people say our reds look like Christmas trees. Some traditions maybe shouldn’t be brought back.

Wild booth is now located in FAN Central. As for the new jersey, my opinion is is that it lacks in imagination. Not too hard to take the team name in cursive and slap it on a jersey. Don;t know yet if I will buy one but my personal preference is the red one.

Wood, I’ve been prone to colds and tummy problems for years. And I never get just a sniffle, the Mr brings home a sniffle and by the time I come down with it the sniffle has mutated into something much worse. I also tend to pick up colds and such from all the kids we deal with at work, no matter how often I wash my hands. The tummy problems are more stress related and had been doing much better until my hours got severely reduced. But such is life at chez Bandgeek.
So I was looking at the list of people from the Wild that are supposed to be at the Fair,

I thought the red sweaters were popular. I really like them, but I guess I’m in the minority. I’d love to see them get rid of the original sweaters, which look kind of weak to me now. This new third is pretty good. At least they’re not black, which is becoming to hockey what grey is to baseball: something every team wears somewhere. Green mades the Wild pretty unique.

I ran into Mark parrish and several Stars players after the game at some bar. I told them they needed to work on the power play.

That’s pretty awesome. We will get something going when it gets closer to the start of the season. It’s always good to find some people down south that watch hockey. I don’t mind email rejections as long as the resumé and cover letter were accepted electronically. I have gotten poorly crafted, typo-ridden ones which were annoying in that respect.
Otherwise, there’s not much difference of impersonality between a printed rejection and an emailed one. Both are automated and indifferent. No response whatsoever, however, is tacky.

I agree. I’ve never really liked the original unis, esp. the green, because I just don’t like the more trendy, modern uniform, regardless of the sport. The Vikings are a classic example of a team that took a classic uniform and replaced it with a busy, modern one - their current unis are so cliche. IMO, the best uniforms across sports are the classic-styled ones. The more simple, the less busy, the better for me. So, in that respect, I like the new 3rds (though not a big fan of the “Minnesota” script).

Quite disappointing. Has that expansion team look that only makes the North Star design seem that much more classic. Seriously, they need to consult some graphic designers. I have in my mind a dark green jersey with a slightly lighter dark green outline of our state. MN has such a great silhouette compared to other states. Why not use it? I guess the Red with circle will remain the best one going.

Looks like a last place teams jersey to me. So now we only have the leagues best logo design on one of the jerseys that is predominant since the gay red one is barely visible? Lame. I’d keep this one as the third, but only if they changed back to the original green for the home jersey. I like black too. Pens. Stars.

I thought the point of having team colors was to keep everything similarly themed? Why would you want to go outside your team colors? I’d be like the Vikings having green uniforms. That’d just look stupid, IMO.

One interesting point I thought of was the latest rumor that Heatley was warming up to Edmonton IF they get Mats Sundin to center his line.
Why it is interesting is its the same request Gaborik had in Minnesota. These elite wingers place a high importance on who the center is. This makes sense, when you are a skilled offensive player you look for others to play with that share that ability to play make like you have. Nothing is more frustrating then not getting the puck at the right time to do what you do best.
Gaborik did not think that Koivou was thr right fit for him. Can you blame him ? Obvioussly no player is going to ever tell another pro hockey player that he does not cut it for him as a center, so Heatley and Gaborik dont say anything in the media about the subject.
I think Bryan Murray knows this is Heatleys concern and does not make it public. Yes, there likely is other reasons but I bet the key reason is no center that Heatley wants to play with. I have not reaserched it but I bet the teams that Heatley had on his list all had top centers
Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the powder blue of the Penguins worked because historically that was their color. Then all the teams in Pittsburgh decided to have the same black-and-gold color scheme, so the Pens changed to fall in line. So technically they weren’t leaving their color scheme so much as making throwbacks.
The new “Green” sweater looks far too much like a college jersey and certainly has borrowed from the All Star Game Jersey design. We could have done better! Too bad as I wanted a new jersey this year…may have to buy the Iron Range Red instead. We chased Norm “Green” out of town…this new green jersey version should be met with as much distain!

Kgoph, the Wild could/would not go North Star colors since that is a different team altogether.
I don’t understand people who say the 3rd looks like a college or high school jersey. This is hockey. Hockey jerseys look like hockey jerseys. I’d posit that any “professional” hockey jersey that doesn’t look like a hockey jersey is trying to look like something else, maybe borrowing too much from some other sports’ criteria for jerseys.
Besides, there’s a lot more high school and college hockey out there than professional hockey. So who’s to say that having a 3rd jersey (not even one of the primary jerseys) that looks more like a high school or college jersey is wrong somehow? But default of percentages, wouldn’t the professional ones that are different be the “wrong” ones?
Those people can choose not to buy one and close their eyes during the fifteen measly games the Wild wear the jerseys; but complaining about them won’t do anything. Write Leipold a letter if you have to vent to someone.
I hate the new jerseys. they look dumb. why is fletcher still allowed to roam free?

Crimson Tide and K rodent- Yes up to this date I to would take the Wild over the North Stars. This organization over the last 8 years has been far more pleasing then the North Stars ever were.
This year is a major shift in gears by this organization. New owner/ GM/coach/new phiosphy. I will tell you both that this new organization sounds to be more like the North Stars of old rather then the Wild of the last 8 years.
But Gentlemen, K- Rodent, Mudslinger, and Crimson Tide. The North Stars were owned by the Gunds then Norm Green. Norm changed the name to just the Stars and dropped the North and moved them to Dallas.
10 years later, a new owner named Naegele named the new franchise the Wild and hired Lemaire and Riseburough. I say this has been my favorite team of all the pro teams to play in Minnesota thus far.
Leopold has become the 3rd pro hockey owner in Minnesota history.
What Crimson Tide and K rodent are saying is they AGREE with me that the last 9 years of pro hockey have been better then the North Stars of old.
You cant say that Leopold will do better then the North Stars because he has not earned that honer yet
He is new owner snd if he really wanted he could change the name back to the Minnesota North Stars if he really wanted

I agree with your post. I would say that the Bob Naegele era was better then the Gordon Gund/Green era.
As far as the jerseys are concerned I will have to see the jerseys in person before I say I like or don’t like
