Wild was at 55. Minus 15 equals 40. Plus Petr Sykora equals 41. Cody Almond’s hurt, so it’s really 40, but who’s counting?

Good news. Petr Sykora can still shoot. I annoint him on the team.

The following players were assigned to training camp for the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL): G Barry Brust, LW Brandon Buck, LW Jon DiSalvatore, D Jamie Fraser, C Brian Kaufman, C Morten Madsen, RW Carson McMillan, D Maxim Noreau, D J.P. Testwuide, C Peter Zingoni.

The following players were assigned to their junior club: LW Kristopher Foucault – Calgary, WHL, G Matt Hackett – Plymouth, OHL, C Tyler Johnson – Spokane, WHL, G Darcy Kuemper – Red Deer, WHL

The boys are on the ice as we speak as coach Todd Richards works exclusively on special teams. If this is the Friday lineup vs. Columbus, you’ll get to see Marty Havlat’s debut. He’ll be on the power play with Brent Burns, Marek Zidlicky, Mikko Koivu and Andrew Brunette.

Again, if this is the lineup. I think it is though because a smattering of minor-leaguers, too, like Robbie Earl and Clayton Stoner out there.

Richards was demonstrating deflections earlier as Brent Burns took shots. He finally joked, “If you hit me, no more power-play time for you.”

Danny Irmen, who had to give up 14 to Marty Havlat, now has to give up 17 to Petr Sykora. Irmen will now wear 40. Rough camp for Irmen. I guess they figured 40 was safe since Alex Tanguay chose Tampa over Minnesota this summer. :)

The Wild makes it too easy, I tell you.

I’ll be on WCCO at 1:40 p.m. as I welcome Chad Hartman back to the airways.
