Bouchard removed from lineup with “recurring headaches”
Posted on October 6th, 2009 – 7:26 PMBy Michael Russo
Wild GM Chuck Fletcher just announced that center/winger Pierre-Marc Bouchard came to coach Todd Richards after this morning’s skate to tell him he’s still not feeling well and had trouble sleeping last night with recurring headaches.
He’s been taken out of the lineup and the Wild will “seek out some medical solutions.”
Bouchard missed much of training camp with what was said to be an illness. He was dropping hints the last week to the media that he wondered if he had a concussion and “was not 100 percent.” He missed the last eight games of last season with a concussion.
Fletcher made clear that he doesn’t think it’s a concussion and that “he had a virus and the bloodwork showed he had a virus” and was telling the team he was feeling better.
Benoit Pouliot will dress tonight, and it’s unclear as to whether Pouliot will play center or wing as of yet because the Wild does have Kyle Brodziak, who has been playing wing.

deja vu
Thanks for the update, Russo!
So far the feed from 45 is the best I have seen on this channel. It is only pregame but still…
Hope Butch is going to be ok.
Didn’t anyone tell the Twins that the Wild play at 8:15 and they shouldn’t go into 14 innings?
And I too hope that Butch is ok.
Tough choice MN feed or Ducks feed on the free center ice preview
So, I was listening to Fletcher’s announcement re: PMB and why did he mention Alan? Is this Alan, the agent? Why? Shouldn’t it be just the Wild medical staff, trainer, coach, GM, and PMB.
hmm…Kgoph that’s definitely choosing between the lesser of two evils
Both feeds seem same quality too.
I don’t think you can get NHL center ice (at least on comcast) if its broadcasted locally via KSTC or FSN. I have never been able to get it.
Wow on pmb
Wow on the wild bad luck
First pmb, brett favre, twins and a bad timed opening which should feature paros knocking out scott
Both feeds seem same quality too. Think I will stick with the Wild since at least the homerism is slanted our way and I can see more of the home stuff.
Sorry about the double post. Didn’t think I would get the center ice feed but it is showing up. I have Charter in the St. Cloud area.
What happened to the chick who normally sings the anthem?
Why is butch out there? Did he just dress for the ceremony? Boogey didn’t.
Lame LPH
Kgopher I was wondering that too.
new gm, new coach, new anthem singer?
Ah, St. Cloud. I am in the Twin Cities. It would be nice to have choices.
Cant get Center Ice (ATT U-Verse) so I bought the NHL Gamcenter package. Live in Chicago and I cant get the feed. No Wild hockey blows!
I have gamecenter and have the wild game
Ya, usually don’t have them. If game is on local & NHL network, usually blacked out on NHL network. Got told by my cousin that Twins are what everyone is watching & who cares about the Wild opener.
I care and I didn’t watch football last night either, read a book while the mr. watched.
I’d give real money if I could never hear “we’re gonna bring in Brad Bombadir…”
Just say hey Brad or something.
Yeah its been a long day.
Try atdhe.net.
There was a football game last night? ![]()
Get Butch to the Doug Risebrough Center for Denial of Injuries and Glorification of Lame Rehabilitations (aka DRCDIGLR, pronounced “Dirk Diggler”)
Awesome Stranger.
For those playing the Big John Scott drinking game, there was 1 already. I am not playing.
We as a people have gone insane because of the recession likely
To cheer for the twins to win the division and become the best of the worst suggests that we have all gone mad
Its ok to cheer but the fans are off their rocker bored to be like they are
The twin can’t go any further then be the best of the worst folks
The yankees will bloody anybody they play from our division
how irritated am I that it is the Wild home opener and I am stuck watching the DUCKS feed? There is no justice.
Best of the lousiest and lousiest of the best
We should be ashamed for losing our minds. I blame the recession
Is the no look pass a new signature move? Not pretty.
How many times are we going to have to see the news clip of Fletcher on the type of hockey he wants the Wild to play?
LOL at the Ryan hit on Bruno.
We just got out of a tough inning. Man, I thought we were over.
Where did the woman anthem singer go? Send the guy that is doing it now back to the Ordway!
That clip doesn’t sound sound good now as back then. It sounds rehearsed now
Backstrom is looking really good already.
BACKS!
Twins Win!!!
Nice hip check by Burns.
Cal just called the Ducks an ill-tempered team. Too funny.
Geee, I wonder what got them that way, Cal.
Ok, now I can concentrate 100% on the Wild.
Can anyone fill those of us who watched the Twins game in on what happened in the first?
I’m stuck watching the Ducks feed. Honestly though, I like these commentators a lot more than some of the others in the league *cough flyers*
Lots of back and forth, Koivu just missed on a nice shot, Backs made a great save where he had to go from one side of the crease to the other, killed an interference penalty. Ducks getting a little chippy, Burns had a sweet, textbook hip check that had Stache chirping, look better then the Columbus game. All and all a pretty good period, but that is my opinion.
Screw that! Jim Jackson kicks ass!
MKVN…
Go spread your cheer on the Yankees board.
How did Pouliot look?
Thanks, kgopher.
I’m really glad to see 45 doing justice to the video feed for once.
Haven’t noticed him.
That doesn’t mean anything though. I don’t usually single out players unless they make a great play or are a goalie.
In the first inning? or what happened with the Twins during the first period of the Wild game?
Just know that Gomez hit a single, Young was walked, Casilla hit a double — Gomez ran home. Game over. Tied 5-5, bottom of 13th.
Top of 13tht, the Tigers had the bases loaded. Someone hit a ground ball and Twins threw out someone at home. Two outs. Then Kepple struck out someone and got out of a very, very sticky situation.
You are welcome Midwest Product and ditto on the 45 feed.
I couldn’t even tell you Driver if Pool Boy is playing wing or center.
Alright, just curious. Missed the first period
Terrific puck control on this PP.
I think s/he meant what happened in the first period while we were all watching the Twins, sunshine.
Punto is the one who made the awesome play to throw the guy out at home. And they intentionally walked the guy in front of Casilla, so Casilla got a single to show them they’re stupid.
Go Wild! Go Twins!
Scott just shoved him to the ice…
Ah…dang it…they scored
It is so nice to see a power play that is actually played in the attacking end instead of being spent chasing back behind our own net and slow skating it back up then dumping it in and going for a line change.
FUDGE!!!!
I guess at least it wasn’t a shortie this time?
Stupid freaking Lupul. We still need a little work in shutting people down in front of our goaltender.
The Twins were just a tad bit more exciting that the Wild/Ducks game. I don’t think I missed much in the first period.
Blood! Ewww!
Oofdah. Take a puck to the face, and it’s likely you’ll bleed.
Our powerplay was pretty decent last year. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought we were in the Top 10 in PP.
For a time, that’s where most of our goals came from.
crap.
sunshine, how sad is it that watching paint dry (i.e., watching the Twins) is STILL more exciting than the Wild in our NEW system?? And DAMN - they scored AGAIN?!?!
Ok, this was a good game. Fudge on the Ducks 2nd goal.
The Canucks are 0-3. Just keep telling yourself that, the Canucks are 0-3. The Canucks are 0-3…
JSG just played it outside the trapezoid. TOTALLY!
We were 9th in the league at 20%.
Doesnt seem to be a lot of chemistry yet
and actually any Clutterbuck hit at all???
Schultz is absolutely terrible + he makes his playing partners terrible as well
Koivu scooorrresss ![]()
I don’t watch any baseball unless the Twins are in the playoffs and this sudden death game was very, very exciting. Love the Wild but it couldn’t beat the Twins. Sorry.
Hey, what can I say… any sudden death game is usually very exciting. Win or go home. You gotta love it.
Yuck!
Could the Ducks get any more bounces??
Dear MKIA @ 8:33 pm.
You are the best poster here on this blog and in the Twin Cities. Ever. And by best, I mean asinine.
epic fail
Midwest Product: Exactly what I’ve been thinking to keep myself sane.
Unreal
And that’s the third time Dumb and Dumber have not even come close to identifying the correct player…
The first period they said Parros was Getzlaf…
Okay - glass half girl, here. The Twins were down 7 games a month ago. Won the division tonight. Wild still in a learning curve. ![]()
Okay, I meant glass half FULL girl. Stupid BJS drinking game. ![]()
Is Havlat hurt? Nolan was just on the 1st line and pouliot was on the second.
NM..hes back on there…and that was Zanon who shot…Burns doesn’t shoot left, Greenlay.
good run for fletch/richards.
Let’s something going. Come on Wild!
Do they look “uninspired,” or is it just me? JSG must have his 4′ wide pads on again, or do we just aim at his chest? C’mon boys, show us something!
Hnidy’s eyes are weird.
I don’t think its “uninspired” more like disheartened.
Either way, it shows down 0-3
No Surprise. Fletcher did nothing to improve the team….and it shows on the ice.
One of those games where absolutely nothing is going right
I don’t think it’s uninspired, maybe a little disheartened. Primarily, though, I just think it’s because the Wild have not been healthy enough to play together to develop much line chemistry at all. Passes and timing are just slightly off. Too bad we fought the injury bug this preseason while a rookie coach is getting to know his team. Anaheim has gotten some pretty lucky bounces, though they’ve certainly capitalized on them. Fingers crossed we’ll have a solid 3rd period…
We got jinxed in pregame. They mentioned multiple times that we have never lost a home opener.
Get used to it folks. All you have to do is analyze the roster. Very mediocre. Going to be a long year. Thank You Fluck Chetcher.
Nico:Yeah I agree with that. Though I will add the D has been a bit lackadaisical. I want to see them skate, skate skate
Uninspiried fits. Hope this looks better on tv cause its a tough watch here. they just look unorganized.
We have the Twins win and the Vikings win…they we have the perennial losers and mediocrity….Gopher Football and Wild Hockey.
The Wild look like crap. The passing is not crisp at all. Greetings everyone.
Hey AustinTX
Let’s Go Wild!
Woohoo! Nice fight by Scott.
Boom!
Scott what a hit nice job
nice job Scott
team MVP
Woohoo!! Way to kick PornStache butt Scott!
What you don’t realize is that my boy Dolohov won that fight for Scott.
Nice right hook by BJS. Punched the caterpillar right off Parros’ upper lip.
Let’s hope that right by Scott gets some jump in the boys. I’m sure they’ll be fine after a few games together, hopefully they’ll gel on this roadtrip coming up. It is a lot faster pace than previous teams, but so far pretty sloppy. Now let’s see a POWER PLAY GOOOOOOAAAAAAALLLLLLL
Get one here!
Ah…! Finish that slot shot!
YES!!!!!
FINALLY!!!
Goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaal!
Sweeeeeeet!
Yeah! We’re not going to be shut out!
Exactly sunshine!
Woot!!!
Okay, maybe they’ll relax and skate and bit more now. Nice shot by Mikko!!!
CAPTAIN KOIVU!!!!!!!!!
Thank God…nothing more embarrassing than being shut out on home ice during the opener.
Crazybachman, I can’t figure out if you live in sarcasm world or not.
Enough of this talk about Saku not wanting to disrupt his brothers role on the team. Saku didn’t want to come to Minnesota…PERIOD. Had nothing to do with his brother. He knows the Wild are not close to being a playoff contender, so why not join Teemu with a much better chance to go deep in the playoffs.
I think Pool Boy popped it up to himself like that on purpose… what was he trying to do?
Stupid Pouliot!
Pool Boy draws a penalty but then runs into Giggy. Ugh.
Poo just showed you his best hockey sense.
CrazyBachmann, you seem to dislike the Wild and all that they do. Why do you spend so much time on the blog, and why do you pay so close attention? That would seem like self-torture to me.
Oh wait, you’re just trolling cuz you have no real hobbies. That’s ok too I guess.
No sarcasm….shutouts suck.
Wow….another PPG goal would have been so huge if granted that chance
He’s soft, he stinks, he’s a floater, he’s Poo.
Mr.Erected…I love hockey…but am very disturbed by the lack of talent on the team and the moves the Wild made this offseason.
Schultz with some muscle…wow.
Cb, now I know you live in sarcasm world. Either that or you’ve never met a Fin. Or had a big brother.
Giggy is too big to be in the NHL
Schultz has been one of the best Wild players on the ice tonight IMO CrazyB.
Go Twins….Go Vikings…On to the playoffs….will we say that about the Wild this year??
Yes, but boy do I miss Skoula.
CB, can you let us know what moves you disapproved of and what you would have done differently?
I dont believe we will make the playoffs. If we do, it’s a fight for 8th. Though I want to wait and see how the chemistry of our top line develops
Well, I am part Swedish.
IS it just me or is the game really slow? It doesn’t look like anyone is playing with any intensity at all.
Oh my…..are you serious. Are you telling me Fletcher got the best free agents available on the market????
That was such an intentional lifting of the net. What a doosh Nieds is.
Thankfully overpaid Johnsson will free up cap space next year. Aren’t the Wild still about $5M under cap this year. Sykora….nice.
Woo! Sykora!!! Take that cheater Neids!
Austintx: did you watch flyers/caps? It would indeed look slow after that.
WE have a hockey game!!!!!!!!!
Great shot by Sykora!!!!!! Game on, baby.
Now, if they can continue to just put pucks on the net.
Havlat and Sykora will be together me thinks…
Driver, I did not.. but I just feel like it’s a slow paced game.
We have plenty of time here boys.. get another one!
I would love to see Carlyle hit in the face by a puck. He just looks like someone that know one would mind dead.
SYKORA!!!!!!
We’re making it a game now.
Johnsson….hit the damnarn net.
Noticed it was Havlat and Sykora.
Too much Missing Link urine today, I meant “no one”
And, btw, they need an ignore function on this blog…
So many people that have played too many NHL sim games that think they have a clue about Gming a professional team.
Burns…you are still trying to do too much.
PIPE
Anaheim so lucky tonight!
They are taking shots from everywhere… it’s awesome. Where was this team 20 minutes ago?
Yes, they also should also not allow anyone on he board that still drinks koolaid from sippy cups.
CB, thank you for answering my question with another question, but it doesn’t actually tell me what moves you disapproved of and what you would have done differently. Still waiting…
C-Buck is going crazy! Let’s go boys!! PP time!! Haha, pp…
Great pressure. Wild pp?
Why didn’t Gabby sign. Why didn’t Saku sign. We need scoring. We had cap space for both. Cop out answer is they didn’t want to sign here. That is the Doug Risebrough answer. There were other scorers on the market as well.
Come up with some rational thinking and maybe I’ll take you serious.
Simply saying koolaid is simply an ad hominem…if you know what that means.
Skyora and Havlat not scoring?
Whos been involved on the scoresheet tonight, CB?
Havlat and Sykora…oh wait, we signed those guys this offseason!!
Were you able to re-sign Gaborik and sign Hossa on your 2010 NHL season?
Cop out answer is they didn’t want to sign here.
That is the TRUE answer. It is ultimately the Player’s descision. Get over it. Gaby had his bags packed a looooong time ago.
And the real question is….the Wild are in a phase where they are struggling. Why hire a rookie GM and a rookie coach. Usually owners on the cheap do this. Like when Mike Tice was hired as coach of the Vikings under Red McCheap McCombs.
Missing Link urine tastes like grape Kool-Aid, but it doesn’t have the same effect.
Why must we always go through this ad nauseum? It isn’t CF’s fault that Gabby or Saku didn’t sign, CrazyB. Gabby wasn’t going to sign no matter what. They offered Saku a very good offer. And Havlat and Sykora wanted to play here - did you forget that?
Take a valium, dude, you are major league annoying.
do you drink from a sippy cup?
TIED GAME!!!!!
Bela!!!! Wooot! STFU CrazyB!
Nice Shot Belanger!!!
YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BELANGER!
You didn’t pay much attention to either of those situations, did you? Saku took less money to play there because he didn’t want the “brother” effect. Can’t blame him there. Not much the Wild could do about it either, since you can’t exactly force someone to sign a contract.
And I lol’d at your Gabby signing want. He wanted nothing to do with this team, it was pretty obvious.
It’s not a cop out answer if it’s actually true.
Haha, CB…
Now what were you saying??
Is that another assist for Havlat??
You should eat crow when you spew stupid crap…man up.
STFU and IYA ATX
Thank god, Belanger didn’t try his tight angle shot.
Who has more points…Havlat or Gabby?
I drink from a troll skull. I think it’s from one that Dennis Douda killed.
BELA!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Let’s Go Wild. I’m on my feet
ha ha Ben…. grow up. Poor Benny
YOu have proved your ignorance CrazyB. Have fun living in the pits. Put the razor down Emo kid.
I want a shoot out
to clarify…I want to see Sykora and Havlat in a shoot out. Would be fund to watch.
Never tell an emo kid to put the razor down. No one needs them, so why stop them?
John Scott…indeed.
CrazyB,
I suggest you take some introductory Econ classes, some logic classes, then come back and try to post some rational thinking.
Until then, you are a joke and no one here takes anything you say seriously.
1-2 next 3 games. Win against LA. Loss against Sharks and Duck. No need to watch. I predicted it for yall.
Very true Jay… very true.
+1 Ben
Ben, I am here to entertain you….and you only. Do you have blonde hair.
From uninspiring to riveting
Great 3rd period… I wish the WIld would have played more like this in the first two and we wouldn’t be in OT.
Well, ultimately, Gaborik and Saku didn’t want to sign here for whatever reason — Gaborik — wanted out of MN, Saku — Wild not playoff contender, Mikko, wanted to play with his BFF Selanne. Part of the rejection was the Wild itself.
At forwards — Hossa, Gaborik, Cammy, and Havlat were the top forwards. We got one of them because we had cap space after Chicago signed Hossa, Montreal got Cammy, and Rangers went with Gaborik. We and probably LA were the likely two teams that could have given Havlat a deal.
I think I want to get ziggy with it. Ziggy has a nice 5 hole. I hope to see more pucks go there.
Cop out answer is they didn’t want to sign here.
Yeah, I love things that are fund to watch. That means I get paid, right?
Sometimes things you don’t understand, are not meant to be understood. And when you have an oddman rush, always remember to cover the pass, let the goalie take the man with the big juicy puck.
And there is Carlyle’s face again.
Time to own the ducks for that punch
Sorry, last one was me not Mr. ATX. And woot! PP during the overtime!
BOOYAAA
WOW!!!!!! WIN! WILD!
Some people say no they can’t believe…
How is that for a finish?
WOOOOOOOOOO!!! BRUNO!!!! EFFIN AWESOME!!
Wild Win Wild Win….Koolaid’s for everyone!!!!
Bruno!!!! What a comeback
Getzlaf is ugly too
YEAH!!!
Coach Carlyle said a naughty word! lol
BEAUTIFUL! Are you disappointed, CB? Awesome!! So nice to beat the Ducks!!!
Great 3rd period and OT. Looked like the old Wild to me.
Trifecta….Vikings, Twins and Wild
Penalties or not….
They took advantage.
Suck it Wisniewski
And BTW, Sunshine. Thanks for all the clarity you provide for this blog.
WOOOHOOOO!!!!!!!
Bruno with the OT winner! Woo hoo!!!
Opps.. that last WiATX post was me.
Dude, 4 unanswered goals to win it. Great day for MN sports. Vikes are 4 and 0, Twins make the playoffs, and the WIld win another home opener. Woo!
Top shelf….gotta love those shots. The Wild fans in attendance deserve to go home happy.
So much for uninspired! Glad I was wrong! Helluva comeback. Way to go boys.
Best thing that could have happened before the road trip. John Scott smacks down Parros and after that they dominated that 3rd period. Outshot, outhustled, and outworked the Ducks!
So just so I am clear, who is the last place team in the division right now?
Why not feed the trolls after a win right!?
Somebody with the Ducks feed tell us what Getzlaffedat was hot about at the end of the game eh?
coming back from a 3 goal deficit unheard of? Hello — worst game ever against the Flames two season ago. Though, I will say that their come back came before the third period.
So just so I am clear, who is the last place team in the division right now?
Ooh! I know! I know! The Nuks!
Anyone know if the Ducks only had 16 SOG? So says nhl.com
coming back from a 3 goal deficit unheard of?
For the Wild, yes. (caveat: I did not research this post, and it may have happened in the past, I just don’t remember it.)
Wait ATX: do tell, what is their record??;)
darkknight I was watching the ducks feed they didnt say much except he was not happy. Maybe because they were up 3 rip who knows.
Ward: they were outshot 30-14 at one point late in 3rd. Probably right
Oh Driver, you’re so funny.
Wait ATX: do tell, what is their record??;)
If you are asking about the Nuks record… I believe that it is 0-3… I could be wrong though.. maybe Allen or VanCanWin could help us out with that one?
If it’s a jab against the canuckleheads I’m all in.
Driver, thanks. It just seems that they had more shots than that. Pretty low number of shots allowed by the Wild after the first two games.
M. Koivu 16-5 on faceoffs
Wild 39-23 overall!
Wonder how many times Russo had to rewrite his game story?
@Ward: No prob. Yeah the game switched around completely.
And yes…canucks equals 0-3
Great game, great win.
Night everyone and Go Wild!
Driver, my job produces a poor memory (outside of work) — are you a new poster or an older poster?
My cousin the Twins fan who thought I was crazy for watching hockey just pointed out to me that the Wild, Twins, and Vikings got a Minnesota Hat Trick. (He intended no pun when replying to my very happy status on facebook for the Wild win).
I think against the Oilers in December 07 we came back from a three goal deficit and won it in OT on a goal by Nummy. That one was memorable. I just checked and our comeback started in the last few minutes of the 2nd period.
HOLY CARP!!1 One of the best two days of top-three Minnesota sports ever?
Vikings don’t matter. Me, Bozak, Douda, and the blow-up Bea are working on a plan to make them disappear from the planet.
I was very excited about the 3 for 3. I actually was convinced that we couldn’t do it, so I was torn between cheering for a Twins win and a Wild win (when the Twins game was in extra innings)!
yeah sunshine, I figured it had happened at least once. But often, expected — those are completely different questions. “Expect” it from the Wild? Definitely not. Like it from them? Hell yeah!
CrazyBachmann says:

do you drink from a sippy cup?
If the rest of the dishes are dirty, yes. LOL
WildinATX: Quick reply..then I am really off.
I am a new poster, this is my one and only name used. I was always a reader only. Decided to comment this year.
Well, welcome to the blog Driver!
strange night in the X. usually opening night is festive. tonight it was festive because the twins were tied and going into extra innings. many people didn’t go down to their seats and of those that did, i’d guess well over 50% were looking at their phones for updates, me included. Slover was right, the game was an afterthought.
1st two periods were shat. simply gawd awful hockey. looked like amateurs. completely different team in the third. if they can play like they did in the third the whole game, they may not win a ton of games but they will be entertaining. three guys in on forecheck. pucks flying to the net from all angles. d-men pinching from blue line almost as a rule before retreating. very nice. then wisniewski commits one of the dumbest penalties i’ve ever seen. game set match. dig it.
I disagree G*. It’s not that the game was an after-thought. It was more like one has finality and the other didn’t. That makes a huge difference.
Honestly, Mr. ATX and I watched the last 4 innings of the Twins game (and I’m pretty sure it is the first baseball game we have watched on TV). But, everytime there was a delay, we consistently said — don’t these people know that the Wild game has started! Get the game going! And often — why couldn’t you finish the game there!
But, we are in a different situation — we couldn’t go to either game and we recorded the Wild game (as per usual due to the early-for-me starts).
But, I do agree that the team looked terrible in the first two but looked completely different in the third and overtime. And by different, I mean way better.
I agree with all things that GStar said. Burns really wants some more offensive moments. Everytime I looked he was deep in the offensive zone leaving his partner hanging. He got caught a few times and needs to better manage that attack. Period 1/2 were horrible, but the third they looked alive and Anaheim look stunned. Quite shocked by the end result tonight!
I give credit to Shep and Brodziak for making something out of nothing in OT. Shep started the scuffle and Brodziak came in and hit the Anaheim player after the play, then the player punched him and got the call. They both should have gone, the refs were possibly making up for the bogus Poolboy interference call on Giguere.
Afterthought or not, the Twins had more action than the first period of the Wild/Ducks game and its BASEBALL. It was riveting stuff.
WildinATX last season the Wild came back from 3-0 twice against the Sharks, once at the Shark Tank with Zids bouncer and the second at the X losing in OT
