If you read only one blog each day — after this one
— it should be … well, that’s almost impossible to say. Which is not a copout.
It depends almost entirely on your level and area of interest. I wrote about some of the better blogs in today’s column, but as is the custom with Liquid Assets, it was for a general audience. (Not that there’s anything wrong with that.)
There are some wonderful blogs for those with a bigtime ardor for wine in general or specific varietals or regions. The Wine Spectator’s staff writers blog fairly frequently about their areas of expertise.
That world is changing, though, as two of the best “focused” blogs either charge a hefty subscription fee (Burghound) or have been incorporated into larger entities (the Piedmont Report, now a part of Robert Parker’s empire).
There are others, of course. Just do a search for “[your favorite grape or region]” and “blog” or “passion.” Or simply root around the Internet; that’s how I discovered the offbeat Gang of Pour site a few years back.
And by all means, if you know of some cool blogs that weren’t mentioned here or in the column, please share them.
