Not enough food-wine pairing in this week’s package? As those hideous screechers on TV at 2 a.m. might say, “But wait, there’s MORE!”

We sweet-talked three local luminaries to do a video on the topic. Left to their own devices, Bill Summerville of La Belle Vie, master sommelier and teacher Leslee Miller and Dakota chef Jack Riebel came up with a game-show-like format.

Jack prepapred three dishes, asked Bill and Leslee to pick a wine for each, then tasted them himself and picked a winner in each round. And the overall winner is … now playing on a computer screen near you, right here.

Meanwhile, here’s some a winning line of thinking from Summerville re. his night job:

“When everyone at the table gets something different: I flat-out ask ‘One wine’s not gonna go with all these dishes. So do you care more about the wine, or do you just want to have a big red that’s gonna to be fun to drink? Do you want to pair to a couple of these dishes? You might be able to do a big white with a mildly prepared beef or lamb dish and a fish dish that’s not gonna get bowled over? Or we might pair to her dish because it’s her birthday.”
