A treat from Languedoc

In order to not get a warning from the Dept. of Redundancy Dept., I am not gonna start having a second, online-only Wine of the Week. But I am going to start trying to regularly make quickie recommendations in this space on recent discoveries.
Starting with a superb blend from France’s Languedoc region. Mas de Guiot Cabernet-Syrah retails for about $15 and has great fruit, acidity and structure. It’s a fabulous food wine, and if you look up “balanced” in the dictionary,” you might just see a picture of the label. The local rep, the estimable Lou Spector of Quality Wines & Spirits, said the wine should be available at Central Spirits, the Woodbury WineStyles, McDonald’s Liquors in South Minneapolis, Sutler’s and the Wine Shop of Minnetonka.
Lou also said that the wine has been poured by the glass at Cafe Barbette for a couple of years now, further proof that Kim Bartmann now only knows her wine but stays ahead of the game as well as anyone around.
