The Timberwolves on Wednesday exercised their contract options on Randy Foye and Rashad McCants for next season. Foye, the team’s currently injured point guard, will receive $2.81 million next season, his third NBA season, while McCants will be paid $2.62 in his fourth NBA season.

The team did not exercise the fourth-year option on Gerald Green, one of five players acquired from Boston last summer in the Kevin Garnett trade. That would have cost them $2.2 million next season, but they declined.

So I take it Green is an unrestricted fee agent after the year?

I could be wrong, but I think Green will still only be a restricted free-agent.

I’m with JMAN, I think Green is an unrestricted FA since the Wolves didn’t exercise the option. Maybe Jerry can fill us in?

Now that Howard has signed with the Mavericks, how does that affect what the Wolves pay him? Was their buy-out of him final at the time, or was it contigent on what his new club would pay him?

Howard got the money no matter what. He was paid 10 mil to leave the team. Isn’t that a great gig!

Green has accomplished nothing in his years in the league…perhaps the wolves are waiting to see what an unguaranteed future will do to his motivation before comitting him more $$. If he doesn’t show more motivation…nothing loss. If he does, well then sign him to a small deal and see if it continues. Do not get into another Hudson contract..one hot streak, millions gone. no results. appears McHale is learning.
