Opening night

An announced sellout crowd (if you count about 5,000 tickets reportedly sold to Target) watched the remade Timberwolves run and romp to an early 19-6 lead against Denver before losing 99-91 when Nuggets veterans Marcus Camby (14 points, 21 rebounds, 6 blocks), Allen Iverson (24 points and 15-for-16 free-throwing shooting) and Carmelo Anthony (33 point) got serious in the fourth quarter.
For three quarters, the Wolves showed that emotion and energy will carry them this season. In the first quarter, they had the Target Center patrons up for a standing ovation after only five minutes.
“Nah, it’s gets better,” Rashad McCants said when asked if that opening flourish is as good as it gets. “It gets way better.”
