Kevin Garnett’s long awaited return to Target Center came Friday night, and it went in about 75 heart-felt seconds. He appeared from the tunnel at the arena’s visitors end just before 7 p.m. and the night’s pre-game introductions of the Wolves and Celtics starters. An early arriving sellout crowd rose and stood almost as one as Garnett, out for Friday’s game because of an abdominal injury sustained two weeks ago tonight against the Wolves in Boston, waved and bowed as the arena’s public-address announcer said the franchise “would like to extend a very warm welcome” to the man who played 12 NBA seasons in that arena and won the 2004 NBA MVP award. AFter getting his due, Garnett disappeared back down the tunnel and watched the game from the visitors’ dressing room, where he always watches when he is not healthy enough to play.
