Not just one O.J., but two

Looks like they’re might be two in our fair state on Friday. Did you see the news report out of Fergus Falls, Minn., that Orenthal James Simpson is vacationing this week on Big Otter Tail Lake? Tonight, expect the Wolves to take Ovington J’Anthony Mayo with the third pick in the NBA draft and, barring any wheeling and dealing, he’d be in town tomorrow for an introductory news conference.
Reportedly, Seattle has a pending deal with the L.A. Clippers to swap the fourth and seventh pick if the Wolves take Mayo. That could take out the Clips as trading partners with the Wolves, although they theoretically could then swap the three and four picks and give back that future first round pick owed them and maybe take one of the Wolves’ undesirable contracts in a deal for a shot at Mayo.
Another team to watch out for in a trade down deal for the Wolves is the Knicks., who have the sixth pick. Mayo would be a perfect fit in the Big City and he might help lure LeBron there in 2010.
A reader’s poll on our web site has Mayo the fans’ overwhelming choice for Wolves tonight. Here’s a question: How would you consider a home-run shot for the home team and what would spell disaster?
