Catch your Wolves at home

The Wolves finish up their preseason schedule by finally coming to Target Center for games Wednesday against Chicago and Thursday against Milwaukee. And for the first time in the franchise’s 20 years, you can see a preseason game — both of them — on television (FSN).

“We’ll see what the old home court looks like,” Randy Wittman said.

Look for Wittman  to play Al Jefferson, Randy Foye, Mike Miller and Ryan Gomes together some to get a groove going for the Oct. 29 opener; he liked how they spread the floor for Big Al in Sunday’s game in Bismarck. Also look for him to get a last good look at the Ahearn-Ollie competition and there might even be a Calvin Booth sighting for the first time in a game this preseason.

I’m hoping that the games will be broadcast on my Dish Network package. Does anyone know if NBA League Pass going to pick up these games?

I hope Foye is turning the corner as a playmaker. That 15 assist game seemed pretty promising. It helps to have Mike Miller to make shots, but we’re going to need more than that for Foye to become a legit pg. I think his development is probably the single most important factor in determining how successful the Wolves are this year.

i’d prefer to see Madsen cut or traded for nothing than to see Richards go, kind of like SA did when they gave us Udrih. Someone will take Madsen, i’d even eat 2M of his salary to help that trade. I think foye/bassy will benefit from Ollie. There are just somethings a coach can’t teach and an actual player can.
Booth is out. He came for free, so its not really a buy-out, but an evening out. Harrison will be kept. Cardinal is to expensive.

I agree, Foye should show marked improvements w/the improved roster. Seems he got it during that film session w/Wittman. Lay-ups are better than jumpers.
If we need more from Foye on top of his 15 assists, well thats just not going to happen. he basically had 40pts that game. to ask more is a bit ridiculous. If Bassy can learn to shoot, or at least shows improvement that will be crucial. If foye can come off and they can’t double off Bassy, that will be huge.

Hahaha…yeah Arenal…what do you want him to do Patrick ? 20 PPG 15 APG 4 RPG 3 SPG ? Aka the greatest statistical season for a PG since Oscar ?

What are the chances Ahern and Harrison are going to get picked up by another team if the Wolves don’t retain them? Even then, what are the chances they won’t be FA’s again next summer?

Ollie, as a mentor for Foye and Telfair seems more important that a scoring combo guard for a team trying to build for the future and show some improvement this year. I don’t think any realistic expectations include the playoffs this year, or even likely next year. So developement is key.

Collins seems like the most servicable of the centers (assuming he’s back to normal when his elbow is healed). Booth sounds like he’s headed for a buy-out (if the opinions on this blog are right), and Harrison has that scary word “potential” attached to him.

I’d rather see Cardinal gone than Madsen, but the contracts say otherwise, and neither seems likely to go. Nice to know McHale isn’t the only GM out there to sign a role player to an overpriced contract. Too bad he had to take one in return for getting rid of one (Walker).

Final Roster?

Jefferson, Gomes, Brewer, Miller, Foye
Love, Smith, Carney, McCants, Telfair
Ollie, Collins

Richard(D-League),
Madsen(IR),
Cardinal(IR)

Right now all this chitter chatter about the depth chart is meaningless to me. I finally get to see the squad in action tonight ! I am pumped. April - Late October is just depressing for me.

Cut Ahearn, keep Ollie for the year. Possibility of 4 draft picks next year, pick a gaurd then.

Yep yep Blue.

i agree w/Blue also, Ahearn can be replaced next year easily and likely w/a better talented youngin’. Keep Harrison, send Richards to d-league where he can play. He will not benefit from riding the bench all game, every game. If harrison flakes, richards can be re-called.

Ollie already has proven a steadying influence, that is needed on a team this young. Love will struggle the first couple months we need bigs.
