Wolves prepare for Warriors, wish Rhino a Happy 25th

The Wolves practiced for about two hours this morning at Oracle Arena, working to stop their 1-5 start (exactly the same as a year ago) and a five-game losing streak with a victory at Golden State Tuesday night to end their three-game Western swing.
At practice’s conclusion, Kevin Love sang “Happy Birthday” to Craig Smith, who turns 25 today.
Was Love chosen because he’s a rookie or because he has the team’s most lovely singing voice?
“He has no signing voice, no rhythm at all,” Randy Wittman said. “It’s hard to be believe he’s got a relative who seems to have that.”
Wittman, of course, was referring to Love’s Uncle Mike, a founding member and lead singer of the Beach Boys.
“Happy Birthday is not my thing,” Love said. “If it was the Star Spangled Banner, I’d have it down pat.”
Asked if it were obvious that Love has a rock-n-roll relative, Smith said, “It didn’t sound like it, but if he keeps practicing, maybe one day…”
The Wolves meet a Warriors team tomorrow that is 2-5 and has Monta Ellis suspended and injured for the season’s first 30 games, isn’t playing Al Harrington and lists Corey Maggette as questionable because of a bad hamstring. Don’t forget, either, that Baron Davis is now gone to the Clippers.
“But they’re still the same team,” Wittman said. “They still want to get up and down the floor. They still want to outscore you. They turn your turnovers into points. We won’t treat them any differently, even with Baron and Monta obviously not being here. They still pose the same problems they did the last couple years.”
