We’ll find out tonight. The Wolves play a Golden State team in about 90 minutes that will be without Corey Maggette, Monta Ellis, Al Harrington…if they can’t win this one, Wolves fans (yeah, I’m talking to you two), with an upcoming schedule that features Portland, at Denver, Philadelphia, Boston, at Detroit and Phoenix before Thanksgiving….

Witless should be fired by thanksgiving. Mcfail and Hoiberg should be next in line.

biedrins goes for 20 and 20 and demarcus nelson (undrafted rookie) is the best pg on the floor. wolves lose by 8. wittman says team is making strides. jerry - no offense but those game recaps must write themselves at this point.

This franchise is a joke. Can they just go away?

Hopefully the Wolves fold. Does anybody actually watch these games?

I guess I’m one of the two fans. I officially became a fan of the Timberwolves on Facebook today. I also became a fan of Maker’s Mark which I might need to make it through the game.

The game stories are already written, I just shuffle the paragraphs around from night to night so they’re in a different order…

I try not to be a hater or call names, but how is this not a re-run of last year? The fact that new guys are devolving into playing the same old (bad) way is definitely a coaching issue.

We might not see Love actually be able to play 40 minutes in a game this year.

Chris says:

November 11th, 2008 at 9:54 pm

we would be set if smith was 6′9 or 6′10

Matty says:

This is not pretty. There are really too many issues to begin commenting on them all. I will finish the game, though. It’s at least a lesson in tolerating pain.

Only one way to get Taylor’s attention….BOYCOTT the Wolves!

Chris says:

^^^ Isn’t that kind of already happening, :)

Matty says:

Well now. Things are looking better–for the moment at least. That was a great steal and dunk by Foye.

Chris says:

November 11th, 2008 at 11:22 pm

they struggle in close games towards the last 3 or 4 minutes though so hopefully they hang on and pull it out, by the way we need Gomes starting over Brewer I think.

Chris says:

November 11th, 2008 at 11:37 pm

now thats some effort on the defensive end by Jefferson, even though he fouled atleast he was putting in the effort that time, keep it up.

Chris says:

November 11th, 2008 at 11:54 pm

no defensive rebounding again and it leads to some points

Chris says:

November 11th, 2008 at 11:58 pm

Why is mike miller not finishing games, is it his defense?

Chris says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:00 am

That was a horrible last possession by the Wolves

Tod Murphy says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:07 am

How many possessions can we go at the end of the game without Big Al touching the ball?

NM says:

Fire Wittman!

He knows nothing about rotations or adjustments or managing a team,

Love played the whole third quarter when the wolves went from 13 down to 7 up.

Love didn’t play at all in the 4th quarter? why?

if wittman brain dead?

The wolves blew the lead. Game gets tied.

In OT wittman still doesn’t use Love.

Fire Wittman as soon as possible.

The man is an idiot!

If wittman managed the Celtics they wouldn’t have made the playoffs last season.

Chris says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:18 am

that was bad, we are the worst team in the league

Matty says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:18 am

It does seem like someone is trying hard not to win this game. . .

Tod Murphy says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:18 am

Is it even mathematically possible for Wittman to lower his career winning percentage?!

…I guess so.

Tod Murphy says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:20 am

If McCants wasn’t such a ball hog maybe Big Al could have had a couple of shots at winning the game in regulation.

Top 3 draft pick here we come!!

Bryan says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:44 am

I’ll post here what I posted on the article, which is that this one isn’t Wittman’s fault. This is on McCants and Foye tonight

Four minutes left in regulation and the Warriors went zone and Foye froze up. It was like he had never seen a zone defense before. Witt had the right guys out there…Foye and McCants to drive, Gomes and Miller to shoot, but Randy and Shad didn’t do anything. The way to break a zone defense it to attack the rim and either kick to open shooters or get to the free throw line. That’s just elementary basketball. Foye didn’t have us doing either, and Shad just missed everything.

Wittman did the right thing, he put the guys on the floor who would get through the gaps in the zone, but our guys didn’t execute. Foye just wandered the arc and the few times McCants went to the rim, he went away from the contact when he should have been going into it. And you can’t put the ball in Al’s hands in a standing zone because if you do, he just ends up surrounded.

That’s why I think the problem isn’t Wittman at all, it’s the point guard spot. A real point guard would have seen the shift to zone defense and changed the offense instinctively to counter. Randy just got locked into jumpers and Wittman had to yell at him what to do, and by the time Randy understood it was too late. I do think Witt has cost us a few games this year, but this isn’t one of them.

Bryan says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:50 am

That said this was a bad bad loss. No Maggette, no Ellis, no Harrington and the Warriors still beat us.

NM says:

November 12th, 2008 at 12:53 am

The wolves took control of the game in the 3rd quarter.

Love was playing. He played the whole quarter when there was a twenty point swing in the wolves favor.

He never played another minute. Not in Q4 not in OT.

Wittman has no idea how to coach.

If McHale wont fire wittman before the season is blown, then fire Mchale also.

Wittman has not idea who his best players are and how to adjust to what the opponent is doing.

Bryan says:

November 12th, 2008 at 1:00 am

Did you even read what I said? C’mon.

I guess blind hate is more popular then breaking down what actually happened in a logical way.

Chris says:

November 12th, 2008 at 1:09 am

I don’t think Wittman can be shed of any guilt for this loss though, he hasn’t proven ever that he is a good coach or can be a good coach and now with more talent we might be worse than last year.

Bryan says:

November 12th, 2008 at 1:13 am

Ya, but he did the right thing tonight. He had all the x’s and o’s in the right spot, they just didn’t follow the gameplan. I mean, breaking a zone defense isn’t something he should have to walk the guys through….Foye spent four years at Villanova, he should be used to a zone defense. College coaches love it.

I’m not sold on Witt as a coach either but I just can’t pin this on him at all. You could see he had the right guys on the floor and you could hear him yelling the right things for Foye and McCants to be doing. The problem tonight wasn’t him not knowing what to do, it was the players not knowing what to do.

Chris says:

November 12th, 2008 at 1:16 am

who knows maybe he should have taken an extra timeout to calm them down during that run or set up a good play to break the zone, it was a 9-0 run, take a timeout we aren’t the Lakers and Phil Jackson

Not Brad Pitt says:

Hey Mayo dropped 33 the other night and is averaging 20 ppg. Do I smell another Roy/Foye mistake?

Thanks Matt Millen, opps I mean Kevin McHale…

Chris says:

November 12th, 2008 at 2:09 am

Yeah, we were talking about that the other night on one of these posts, Love doesn’t even play which makes it even funnier.

wow...WOW says:

November 12th, 2008 at 2:29 am

it can get worse…the good news is that we are now losing in overtime versus losing in the last three minutes of the game…great job Witmann…you may be working your way out of a job…I’ve said before that I wasn’t sure if Wit is the right guy for the wolves job…he’s starting to make my point. I’m pretty tired of reading about heart breaking, gut wrenching losses…nothing is going to come easy for this team, it’s going to be a battle all year for these guys…playoff type games…crushing defeats, night in, night out…I think the wolves have a long, long 6 months ahead of them…

twinsfan32 says:

November 12th, 2008 at 3:06 am

Jefferson is a black hole this year. if the ball gets thrown down low to him, it never comes back out. He needs to learn to kick it out to the shooters, and by shooters i mean only Miller and occasionally McCants

BC Beneke says:

I told you all that they would start the season 4-17!!!

On the 21st game in a Karma-bomb Wittman will either resign, or be institutionalized for how crazy he is driving himself coaching this team.
