Financially yes. Plus I'm not as big on Roy as everyone else it seems. Should have traded that pick away for a first rounder last year or this year.

So we're better off having a player we're going to maybe get rid of than slightly overpaying a player who's going to be at or near All-Star caliber for the next 10 years? Really?

So ? I wouldn't want to be stuck having to pay the contract he's gonna get, which I don't think he's worth.

After next season we Foye is restricted and probably won't get a giant offer....if he does we can let him go. Someone is gonna sign Roy to a max offer sheet and Portland will have to match it.

Overrated or not, he's been a lot better than Foye thus far.

Jama,

Thibodeau was Van Gundy's top assistant and was in charge of all of his defensive schemes. It makes no sense, then, to say that Van Gundy's schemes won't work in today's game, but that we should hire Thibodeau. They have the exact same phil. I would be happy with either one. It would give the Wolves a clear cut style of play. Right now they don't really know who they are, and as D' Antoni has shown in NYC that's half the battle.

How about me as coach? First thing is Jefferson does not come out of the game for 7 minutes at a time. Secondly, the minute a team goes on a 6-0 run on me, I call a timeout. Thirdly, I tell the guards to run into the paint and create fouls and freethrows. Fourth, if you can't make a uncontested 20 foot jumpshot, you will stay on the court after the game and shoot them all night for practice. Finally, decide who your starting 5 players are and let them play, and keep playing them until they absolutely need a rest. The end.

And I don't buy the "Glen Taylor is losing money" story. Yes, he's losing some on operating the team yearly now, but he will more than make that up when he sells the team down the road. The value of the team has increased roughly 4x from when he bought it in the mid-1990s, and he hasn't lost anywhere near that amount to operate the team. He's only taken significant losses in the last couple of years.

Practically every team in the NBA is above the cap, so Taylor gets no points from me for that. They didn't use their exceptions consistenly even during the KG era.

I would argue that the rebuiliding "plan" is just as much about saving money as trying to build a winning team for the future. They could have tried to trade KG for players to help them win now. They chose to be really, really bad and really, really cheap for a couple of years. And Taylor was one of the principal architects of that plan. Now it may prove to be the right thing to do. But it wasn't the only option.

The Foye-Roy trade was pennywise, pound foolish if you buy the Wolves' logic on why it was made. If you liked Foye better, why would you draft Roy and force a trade? The Wolves are going to get pounded for years over the fact that they picked the better guy and traded him for cash and an inferior player. Think the organization is better off with the money and the incessant comparisons of the two players? I don't.

I want Wittman to be fired, but come on. You can't fire a guy after 7 games. Give him 15 more games, and if things still aren't improving, get rid of him, and make McHale coach.
