One season delayed, K.G. is back at Target Center tonight
Posted on November 21st, 2008 – 1:08 PMBy Jerry Zgoda
Kevin Garnett presumably is healthy and ready tonight to make his long-awaited return to Target Center that was limited only to a some waves of his hand and a few reverential bows last February because of a stomach injury.
So what line does Al Jefferson have ready for K.G. this year?
Last season, the two yapped at each other at the foul line in a game at Boston. Later, he found out that the conversation got heated after Jefferson reminded the accomplished veteran that they shared something in common: Neither of them had an NBA championship ring.
In retrospect, oops…
When told at Friday’s morning shootaround that he can’t use the same line this year, Jefferson said, “No, I can’t. That ought to teach me to shut up. I’m going to have to guard him tonight, so I better save all my energy for that.”
Jefferson watched the Celtics destroy Allen Iverson and Detroit at home on Thursday night.
“It kind of got boring there after a minute,” Jefferson said. “Their bench blew it open in the second quarter. The guys on their bench really stepped up. After that, it was kind of pointless to watch.”

Ahhhhh there is the game day blog ! Gracias Jerry.
My guess is Big Al will have more points and rebounds than KG, but it might not better in the end.
I can see KG telling Big Al that this is still his house, and then Al and KG go at it. GO AL!
I can see that no matter what happens tonight, KG gets the last laugh. I’ll be there cheering on #5. Go KG!
Go ahead and cheer on KG, I’m sure you loved it when he gave his shout out to the fans in ’sota’ after they won last June too saying that it was for us? Please… I will never cheer for KG again after the ‘rejuvenated’ play he had last year compared to the last two years here in Minnesota
Here here Jim !
[…] On the Wolves – […]
I hope KG breaks a branch.
KG is the man and the ONLY good thing that has ever happened to the T-Wolves organization! I hope he gets a standing ovation tonight and the crowd cheers the Celtics more than the Wolves..
Pfffffffttttttt
Wolves > KG
He is now the enemy.
Hey Jim
How excited would you be to play with Blount and Marko Jaric? Besides, Taylor made KG sit the last few weeks to get a better draft pick.
I’ll be there cheering for KG because of all the work he put in over the years, but hoping for a Wolves win in the end!
I hope KG has his worst game of his career and everyone including Bassy dunks on his face.
Hey KG — I know how you feel. I was a superstar like you but never won a championship until the Baltimore Ravens gave me a decent supporting cast.
Seriously — it would have shown something if KG could have won here in Minnesota. The Celtics could have traded KG for a lot of different guys and still won last year. ANYONE can win if they have all the best teammates. KG started out special and turned into a whiner. Good riddance.
You guys are both morons, oops, all three of you are morons. Sorry Trent, didnt mean to leave you out. This team has had ONE thing going for it in 20 years. Its not a coincidence that the team is on life support sans #21.
Something tells me KG goes into the NBA HOF with a Wolves Jersey on. Where are you gonna be then Swan Dizzle? You still going to be booing KG?
“The Celtics could have traded KG for a lot of different guys and still won last year.”
Like who? That Defensive Player of the Year Award was probably a fluke huh?
“ANYONE can win if they have all the best teammates.”
Robert Horry?
It would be a fun game if the T-wolves had a different coach and general manager. There’s not much of a future with those two.
it’s fun to watch the games and recall the great players we used to have, and to imagine the team we could have had.
Wolves are up by three at half and Carney probably played the best for the wolves. He scored only 2 points but had three steals and really pushed the ball against the celtics.. Jefferson kind of struggled going 3 - 12…I really don’t know how there up. It should be an interesting second half. Keep brewer on the bench…
I agree. As much as I want to root for the Wolves, it seems completely pointless these days. The Wolves without KG are not just struggling; playing against them looks almost like shooting fish in a barrel.
KG played his heart out for years, and if he played the last season or two at MN less than whole-heartedly, it was probably because he realized that under its current management the Wolves have no future.
He did start out great, but His trash talk, swearing out loud and whining, not to mention the joe smith fiasco left me not caring.
I’ll give you that.
But he was the soul and most of the talent of the team. If McHale could put together a decent team without him, I’d say good riddance, but unfortunately that doesn’t seem to be the case.
hey glen failure, you witless, and mcfail are the 3 fricken stooges. you and your miserable team sucks ass
VERY UGLY 3RD QUARTER….GOT OUT SCORED 35 - 10…. LESSNER SHOULD HAVE PLAYED
why the hell trade for miller and let him only take 4 fricken shots all game? jackasses
I actually miss the 10-point-blown-lead losses they got us accustomed too last week. The T’Wolves third quarter was a new low for professional basketball. That was hard enough to watch on TV but it was probably even worse in the morgue that was the Target Center. I just hope they show a little character on Sunday and play a watchable basketball game.
That was truly horrible. All the bad decisions the front office has ever made were on display in their full glory tonight. Wait, Ndudi Ebi wasn’t there, so not all of them, but most.
Fire McHale and Wittman. Go Wolves.
yeah once again no shots for miller and he and craig smith lead the team in assists. Miller is probably are best set up guy but he is our best shooter too so that sucks. Jerry what is going on with miller’s shots and have people (local media) been grilling Randy W about this or do they just don’t care anymore?
