Monday update: Short and sweet

The Wolves did not practice today. The team just met briefly and lifted weights. Only coach Randy Wittman talked with the media. The players were quick to shower up and get on home. Reporters were told players didn’t have time to chat about Sunday’s blowout win over Detroit. They wanted to rest up; I’m sure for tonight’s charity event. Rumor has it Mark Madsen will be in a tuxedo. Wonder if he’ll dance ….
Anyway. Wittman, naturally, was all for talking about Sunday’s game. Point-blank, he was asked what happened.
“What happened? We made shots,” Wittman said. “Good things happen. We didn’t do anything differently.”
Well, that’s not entirely true. Wittman did admit to simplifying the offense. And rather than let up after getting a lead - which Wittman said the team had done earlier this season - the Wolves kept the pressure on.
“It’s nothing magical,” Wittman said. “We played with confidence … We got to a quick start and really never let off the accelerator.”
They’ll need to do that and more against Amar’e Stoudemire, Steve Nash, Shaq and the rest of the Suns. They’re in town Wednesday.
Jerry’s back on tomorrow. Catch his Wolves vs. Suns preview stuff in Wednesday’s Star Tribune.
