3-10 Wolves at 1-15 Thunder: Now, that’s pressure!
Posted on November 28th, 2008 – 6:05 PMBy Jerry Zgoda
This isn’t just another game between two bottom feeders. The Thunder has lost 13 consecutive games and its last, and only, victory was over the Wolves here in Oklahoma City nearly a month ago.
Interesting that Wolves boss Kevin McHale is here on the trip, on a holiday weekend, no less. What does it mean? We’ll see…
The Thunder fired P.J. Carlesimo a week ago tonight and replaced him with assistant Scott Brooks, the former Wolves guard from so long ago. Brooks theoretically has until season’s end to prove that the job should be his. Since then, Washington fired coach Eddie Jordan. ’tis the season, I suppose…

The Wolves aren’t cold hearted enough to fire someone over Thanksgiving weekend are they? Oh how I would like it though.
Jerry,
After all the turkey, the shopping, and my own work today. Teasing with an even hinted firing of The Wittless one is just cruel and beautiful.
I will be so happy to see it happen… Other than himself, or possibly inserting Hoiberg who is out there to coach the team?
I was just looking at nbadraft.net
It doesn’t show which 2nd round picks we got from Miami.
However it does now finally have us with 4 1st round picks next year.
I would like to see Thabeet C, Collison PG, being our players taken at 3/4 and 16-19th)
I know it’s way early, but with Wittman here it’s probably never too early to look at the draft.
The problem with the Wolves isn’t just the coaching….When was the last time the Wolves had a “true” point guard?? We need someone to direct the offense and get the shooters the ball….Foye has two assists tonight and so does Brewer…..TWO assists….It’s pathetic…
Firing Wittman won’t make this team any better. I don’t understand why you guys think a new coach will magically turn everything around, I mean, when does that ever work? Unless the new coach is named Mike D’Antoni, this roster will be just as bad under a new coach as they are under the current one. The problems run a lot deeper then Wittman.
Also, I’m not sure why you’d want Collison over Ty Lawson or Brandon Jennings or Jrue Holiday. Collison is the least productive and has the least potential of the four.
For this game, I’m at a loss. Once again, Foye is getting it handed to him by Westbrook. I don’t know if it’s the speed or aggressiveness or athleticism or what, but something about Russell freaks Foye out.

Pshhhh, and you guys wanted to trade Mike Miller. Whatever.
I still think at the end of December if we are still way out of it, then trade him and one of the 1st rounders to move up or for a solid young center (Kaman) just a thought. Mayo had 32 against Spurs but they lost by 10 or so though.
Moving up is something that will have to wait until the year is over. We definitely won’t know what the lottery seedings will look like by the end of the month.
I just think Miller does to much to trade him away. He can shoot, rebound, pass and shows great leadership on and off the court. We’ll never find a guy who will do all that in return. And we definitely won’t get a guy who will run the three point line and still hit almost half his shots. The only guy who even comes close to Mike in both volume and percentage is Steve Nash.
Jerry, how come McCants didn’t play tonight? Could a trade possibly be in the works?
Nash>Miller look how Phoenix played tonight with out him. YES you will know who will have a high draft pick by January 1st. We will be 90% sure who the bottom teams will be, Give our Boston pick which you know will be last in the first round or second to the last and Miller for a teams 1st round pick that is 10 games or so below five hundred. Any of those teams will be worse than Bostons so that means we would be moving up, maybe get a young center too. I would also trade Mike Miller straight up for Chris Kaman in a heart beat.
Who shoots for us then? We can already see by watching the Sixers or ourselves last year that a team with no shooters can’t win no matter how good the post game is. Are we going to go back to McCants being the go-to guy on the perimeter? We need a consistent deep threat or Al will just go back to being swarmed.
And yes, Nash is better than Mike Miller, but the point of that comment was that if we trade Miller, we won’t get anyone as good in return because Nash is the only other guy in the league that can shoot the percentages he does.
I guess I just don’t see why you guys are so down on Mike. This is a guy that’s been pursued by teams like the Lakers and Suns and Pistons and Spurs ever since he played for the Magic, but then he comes here and after a month, you all want him gone? What don’t you like about him? He does everything well.
I like Mike Miller a lot but this team isn’t going anywhere anyways this year. I have been a Laker fan since I was 4 and watched Magic play out there and I would love to see them with Mike Miller, but the problem is, on some of those teams, he would be the 3rd or 4th best player and on the Lakers he would be behind Kobe, Gasol, Bynum, Odom. He is arguably our second best player but if we aren’t winning with him, your making him miss out on being on a contender and your not winning with him so you can’t lose a game twice. We barely beat the worst team in the league tonight on a last second shot, not much promise with this team. Maybe 28-30 wins but nothing close to playoffs in the west and Miller will just get us a worse draft pick. But McHale would probably screw it up anyways, lol. Go Wolves! (and Lakers shhh!)
When are we going to fire these idiots? No way we are keeping 4 first round picks next year. We’ll trade them away for a scrub.
