Battle of the 20-year-olds: Magic at Wolves

The Wolves got back later than anticipated last night from New York. Regardless, the team is less than an hour away from another tip-off. Orlando is in town for a battle of the Class of 1989.

Fittingly, it’s 80s night here at Target Center. I’m prepared for a healthy dose of Madonna and Michael Jackson through the speakers. And I hear the fine AV crew here has dug up some fun crowd shots from way back when. As for the actual game, Minnesota is going for back-to-back wins. Technically, the team last won back-to-back on opening night - because last season wrapped with a victory over Milwaukee. As for consecutive victories in one season, Minnesota won two in a row five times last year, the last coming April 11-12 at Orlando and Memphis. This is getting ahead of ourselves, but the Wolves last won three in a row Jan 12-15, 2007.

Your starters tonight: Ryan Gomes, Craig Smith, Al Jefferson, Randy Foye and Kevin Ollie. Calvin Booth, Corey Brewer and Mike Miller are your inactives. There was some thought Miller (sprained ankle) might be able to go tonight, but coach Kevin McHale said he is not ready. Thus it’s a third straight game without Miller.

We’re about ready for a 7:10 tip. I’ll post again after the game.

I think we should have Love matchup vs. Howard tonight. No help just let Love guard him one on one.

Whiel I am sure you are being sarcastic… I think it actually might be a good opportunity for him to learn from probably the best PF/C hybred not named Kevin Garnett in the NBA

It’s only 20-8 we are down. The Wolves got cocky after actually playing like an NBA team last night… these foolish puppies think they really are an NBA team, and are being played like the prettiest Altar Boys stuck in a Monistary.

It’s ugly… by ugly I mean Willie (ET) McGee meets Otis (I died in 1979 and someone forgot to tell me) Nixon kind of ugly.

Please Mr. Taylor… bring in new management before these pups are all spade and neutered… and completley worthless…

I wouldn’t have said spade had I thought they were all men on this team. Though I mean no disrespect to the Lynx who could beat them 7 times in a 10 game series!

Gotta “Love” McHale’s big men. Am I watching a Woody Harrelson movie?

I wonder what McHale says at halftime….How many games have the Wolves been ahead or very close only to get their @$$es whooped in the second half? Great motivational speaker….

Zgoda resembles a seventh grade science teacher. You really wanted people to see that photo, AND take your reporting seriously?

On another note, I liked how Kevin McHale was somewhere between oblivion and comatose before the Wolves called a timeout. It was 15-2 Orlando, and McHale was sitting with his thumb in his mouth. Fire him now, Taylor. Now…!

Marko: your game resembles a seventh grade basketball player’s, and your humor too. Ha! I made fun of you on a public blog!

Don’t say anything if you can’t say something nice (or at least witty).

Jerry: Thanks for the updates. We appreciate them.
