O.J. and K-Love, Part I

Memphis is in town tonight for the first game since the Grizzlies and the Wolves swung that midnight deal on draft night last summer. O.J. Mayo enters with a 20.1 ppg scoring average and the early clubhouse lead for Rookie of the Year. Kevin Love enters just thankful his name doesn’t rhyme with Mayo.

With 10 minutes left in the second half, Mayo has scored four points on 2-for-2 shooting. How many do you bet he ends up with?

Jerry Zgoda is back for his second season on the Wolves beat, after covering the franchise's first four seasons so long ago. He has spent the offseason diligently working on his deadline chops, brushing up on his Strunk & White Elements of Style writing guide book and tirelessly drilling to improve his foot speed so he has a quicker first step to the pregame buffet line this season. He celebrates his 24th anniversary at the Star Tribune two nights after the Wolves open the regular season at home against Sacramento on Oct. 29.
