Hornets at Wolves
Posted on January 23rd, 2009 – 6:20 PMBy Brian Stensaas
Hello from Target Center where all the talk today has been focused on how in the heck one stops Chris Paul. In short, you don’t. To use an old bit made popular on SportsCenter, you can only hope to contain him.
The last time CP3 and the Hornets were here I was in the stands as a spectator and had a seat a few rows behind one of the baskets. Perfect view of lob after lob from Paul to various big men who finished with easy dunks. No Tyson Chandler tonight. No David West, either. But you can bet Paul will find another way to get his presence felt.
This is a Hornets team that won three games over the Wolves last season by a combined 94 points. New Orleans is on a three-game winning streak right now, and has won 10 of its past 14 overall. But don’t count out the Wolves, who have a 7-2 mark this month. That’s second-best in January (tied with the Spurs) behind only Orlando (8-2).
We’re less than an hour away from game time. Enjoy the show!
