Oops, sorry, forgot to post a pre-game item…
San Antonio’s loss at the Lakers today gives the Wolves a chance with a victory here late in the fourth quarter to take the NBA’s best record in January.
The Spurs are 9-3 this month. The Wolves will be 9-2 if they come back from an 87-84 deficit here with less than eight minutes to play in the game.
LATE UPDATE: Since I’ve got a early flight tomorrow to Milwaukee, I just thought I’d tack on the basics from tonight’s game: Wolves win 109-108 in overtime, come back from 16 down in the first quarter, from seven back with less than four minutes left in the fourth and force overtime with a closing 9-2 run. BigĀ Al scores 39, one shy of a career high, in a late push for that All Star invitation. Telfair kept the Wolves in the game in the first quarter, then provided the defense on Derrick Rose in the final seconds of both the fourth quarter and overtime that really helped win the game. Fourth-Quarter Foye didn’t score in the fourth quarter and scored just two in overtime, but they were big ones: A runner off the glass that put them ahead to stay wiht about 43 seconds left in OT.
Now 9-2 in January, they did own the league’s best record in 2009, better by percentage than the 10-3 Lakers and 9-3 Spurs.
